Ok, so where exactly on the Qantas website do I find the meal times. It's not under domestic inflight dining. Domestic Inflight Dining | Qantas

All of my QF783 flights departing at 1940 have been changed to refreshment flights from dinner now. Only noticed this because they changed the departure time to 1945 last night. Maybe they set the advertised meal by the flight number and not the departure time. But then that just highlights a failure in the information presented when purchasing a flight.

Apparently the meal times of QF flights are state (or at least commercial) secret. And constantly up to revision. It's vexing.

Medhead's suggestion is great: meals by flight number and not flight time would give consumers confidence in getting what they are paying for.

I'm not sure that was my suggestion. But you've sort of turned it around well. I regularly take the same flight number that has departure times varying between before or after 8pm. This was marketed as a dinner flight even for an 8:05 departure, but a snack was served. When I provided feedback all my forward bookings changed to refreshment, including the pre-8pm departures. That suggests that someone has just looked up the flight number and changed them all to snack without bothering to look at the departure time.

I think my biggest complaint is the lack of attention to detail.

Last time I had that problem QF really couldn't care less about it. It's disappointing when you book a certain flight because it specifies that it's a meal flight and you get a small snack.

It's really funny, because I just let it go for a while - month or so. Then I provided feedback to them. then within a day I got hit with a heap of My Flights updates where the meal has changed to snack. Problem being that they also changed the departures that are before 8pm. I'm waiting to see what happens when I get to those flights - will it be a snack or will it be a meal. I suspect that the type of meal is determined on the day, rightly so, with little reference to the Qantas website.

Also interesting to note that the I provided feedback about that flight via the Qantas survey panel email. I had the usual survey about my morning flight and took the option to give feedback about another flight to mention the meal thing. Seem someone looks that that stuff.
