Qantas Business Class meals & menus

CBR-HBA 09:00 flight. Croque Monsieur the only option. I normally don’t select toasted sandwiches but no choice this time. It was thankfully very nice - not dry, had plenty of cheese and good quality ham. Actually a nice choice for that time of flight.

Service pretty good. Wines taken out and put on trolley despite the time. Top ups also offered (not taken by me) but crew were a bit absent last 15 minutes before descent so had I changed my mind I’d have had to call.

When I printed my boarding pass at the airport (1h45m before dearture), my seat was still 7A, as I had selected when booking this flight. However when I got to the gate, the machine spit out a new seat, 1E (non-window). I wasn't paged at the lounge or anything requesting that I move.

Later in the flight I went to check who was sitting in 7A, and it turned out to be a Qantas Staff member (in uniform)...
Had similar in a rare recent QF flight.
Had selected 4A, no notice in lounge, but on boarding, paper ticket spat out moving me to row 22, you beauty, she told me it was for balancing the plane, I could only chuckle, nice excuse for a full flight. Some large bloke I saw in 4A.

2 other guys with me in row 22 also were 'rebalanced' from row 4. A P1 member & LTG who I ended up chatting to. P1 guy was moved to row 7, wow. They both weren't suprised, that's just QF they said.
I don't believe it's good enough.

IMO QF hopeless time n time again.

International lounge in Melbourne serves (alcoholic) drinks before 12, or same as the domestic lounge these days?

Has always been like that as far as I know. I find it ridiculous to not serve booze before 12 (or decent coffee thereafter) because many passengers connecting from overseas will have no clue what time it is. We're talking airlines here, they should really know.

P.s.: My very least favourite is if you get egg frittata overkill: Hotel breakfast, lounge breakfast, airplane breakfast, then due to time changes, lounge breakfast again, followed by one last airplane breakfast. Even the biggest omelette lover will be done for life after such an ordeal

ADL-MEL, 7am this morning:
175309B2-CF61-443D-A831-56B5BBFDDE0E.jpeg

Pumpkin, feta and spinach omelet or berry granola. Strawberry pastry and yoghurt.

Pastry was delicious (albeit unhealthy) and omelet was alright - a little dry and cold.

Service was good, priority boarding worked alright and flight was uneventful.

Adelaide lounge back to self serve (usual eggs and beans), Melbourne business lounge continues to have great coffee service from the barista but other than that is unremarkable (eggs and bacon and usual continental spread).

MEL-CBR, 10:10am QantasLink flight:
8921F9AA-4C70-4BDA-84D9-3AF7A857EA6A.jpeg

Was asked if I wanted to participate in breakfast to which I said yes. After take-off, was presented with a pasty. Only one option and wasn’t told what it was ahead of time.

Pasty seemed a bit odd for a morning flight though it was alright - more vegetables than meat.

Offered to hang jacket. No priority boarding and business cabin a free for all on disembarking with economy passengers flooding it before I could get my baggage down.

I had this meal travelling BNE-SYD lunchtime flight a month and I could find just a few thin strands of muscle and nil other meat to be found - ? the usual cost savings .

Yep- this has been around for a while now. They call it beef pastry from memory but there's literally nil meat in it- mostly vegetable. Not that this has to be a bad thing- forces me to finally "eat my greens"

this has been around for a while now.

Just over a year since it first started popping up in this thread...

IMO a pastie or a sausage roll would be acceptable on a ~1 hour flight (e.g. SYD-CBR, MEL-CBR, MEL-LST) where the amount of time row 3 gets to eat can be quite limited, but on a 1.5+ hour route it feels a little weak, especially when the J lounge is also often serving up similar fare (sausage rolls & party pies) before the flight, and VA are serving a better in-flight J menu in seats costing less than half what Qantas is charging..

Pasty seemed a bit odd for a morning flight though it was alright

Domestic departures between 9am and midday fall into the "refreshment" category - link below covers the timings (which I believe are the same for both economy and business)

Here's lunch on QF1563 from SYD-LST, a QantasLink B717 flight on Easter Sunday. Choice of a pancetta toasted sandwich or legume salad served with warm sourdough, a Lindor ball and as a special Easter Treat, a mini Koko Black chocolate quail egg and bilby.

Sandwich was quite nice with pesto, sun-dried tomato and cheese. Given the issues being reported at the time of many QF flights departing without catering, I was glad to receive anything at all!

Service was great, the FA looking after Business was very personable and kept drinks topped up (thankfully subsequent beers had less of a head than what you see in the picture below 😂).

Business cabin was perhaps half full and I had literally all of Row 1 to myself.

Very underwhelming B717 experience CFS>SYD today. 1655 flight which was noted as a 'hot' meal. Got served a pathetic cheese and crackers box with no comment on whether catering wasn't loaded or whether this was it - very budget carrier. Then after the crew had handed out the box and served a round of drinks, disappeared to the galley until captain announced preparation for landing - no top ups or refills.

This was J catering on the same 1655 departure about a year ago (they have since shuffled the flight numbers around)

Request compensation for no J catering.

Creamy chicken or prosciutto salad. Food was very tasty, service was exceptional. Crew made a point of highlighting spirits were available again. Flight has probably redeemed my opinion of Qantas somewhat. Couldn’t fault it.

Thanks - will do. It's a joke really.

How cute is this Easter treat! I'm glad to see that Qantas can sometimes still have a heart, given all the other fails recently.

And I agree, those toasted ciabatta sandwiches are quite nice usually. Often better than whatever blob you might get served as a proper hot meal imho.

Wasn’t in J today as I think it’s ridiculous to pay $1941 on an E190 between DRW-ADL but thought I’d just comment on what I observed. Not sure if it’s standard but J was served with the same wooden cutlery as Y, one of the options was granola and all meals came with yougurt but no spoon?? The juice was from “Daily Juice Company,” rather then the other presha juice. The curtain wasn’t used either.

I hope you'll be asking for compensation for the inop IFE.

Still hadn't heard anything back from my email on 11 Apr so I followed it up today. QFF team told me they had forwarded the case to Qantas Customer Care on 14 Apr, but they couldn't see any updates and I should call Customer Care myself (1300 659 161)

After a 10-15 min hold, a friendly onshore customer care agent told me no case had been set up yet. They also said they wouldn't usually pay compensation for faulty IFE. Pointed out that it was long haul international in J and I'd previously received compensation in 2019 for faulty IFE. He said he'd look into it and call me back. 45 minutes later he calls to say they will compensate with 10k QFF.

Key takeaway - don't even bother emailing the FF team. Go straight to Customer Care on the number above or fill out the form online. I'd suggest the same for those who are claiming compensation for lack of catering.

QF9 yesterday MEL-DRW, Drinks Menu said they had Campari - so ordered on ice. After a long wait, attendant comes back and says sorry - none. Another item on the menu was "desert wine", - so I ordered on ice. After another long wait, attendant came back and says sorry - none. This was on the BEGINNING of the long haul trip to LHR - why publish if they can't deliver....??

QF674 from ADL to MEL on 26/4

Omelette with pumpkin, served with potatoes with mushroom and bacon. Was actually pretty tasty.

HBA-MEL 12:00 scheduled flight (actual departure 13:25). Lunch. Single meal offered. Described by FA as roast chicken. Was the same chicken in cream sauce as covered previously. Reasonable but too salty.

Had the Dandelion Shiraz which I did not enjoy and will avoid in future. Top ups offered. No PDB.

Decent enough flight. Especially with an empty seat alongside despite a couple of staff travelling in J.

Agree with you- this dish is way over salted which is a shame as the creamy sauce is otherwise very nice (albeit certainly no health food- not that I wanted this on a flight).
