qantas domestic flights departing from international

hey, i am gonna book one of these tomorrow.... you have to go through customs and immigration right? but you don't need a passport, just photo id? and you can't take a non-flying friend through with you to the first lounge if plat? are these flights a PITA?

Yes to customs and immigration
Yes to government issued photo id
No to non-flying person
