Qantas domestic economy meals

But to be honest the choice is the equivalentnt of what I posted above.

Next time I'm flying JQ I'm making my own sandwiches in lounge.
Well you can choose to have a sandwich, toastie or a pie like what you posted above. Or if you want to choose a snack you can have olives, cheese and crackers... At least there is choice. Likewise for drinks.. instead of beer wine soft drink you have the option to have cider or spirits on JQ.

Which is why I’ve switched to JQ for any Y Dom flying. You pay but there is at least a choice.

Am I the only one who struggles to eat this without cutlery? These days I decline it as it's just too messy... I'm clearly too uncoordinated.
Totally, 100% agree. Definitely need cutlery to eat, well, in my opinion, anything. It's a pain to be too careful to eat with your hands when surrounded by strangers. Not to mention the whole mess of flaky pastry all over your person and seat, scattering all over the table. If it was a sandwich, then happy to eat with hands. But if you are going to serve me something that was just heated in a microwave, it is simply too hot to handle.

CBR-SYD, I was once offered the trio of arancini balls. I asked for a cutlery kit. The FA said, it's a snack so no cutlery was loaded. But the arancini balls were super hot to touch, definitely too hot to eat as a whole without burning the insides of my mouth. I had to wait for almost 20 minutes for the snack to cool down and then took a bite.

Bne-Mel weekday 5.15 dep, got a chicken pie. No choice no water proactively offered
Pre covid there was a choice of hot box meals , proactively offered second drinks

Yeah, that’s not great - the no choice during the day I can live with but in the evening choice of meals and alcohol should be standard.

Struck out on the upgrade but nicely seated in 4C with and empty 4B. Had breakfast of scrambled eggs/ sausage/ frittata/beans/ spinach which while looking terrible actually were quite good — eggs and sausage better than their J lounge counterparts a couple of hours earlier.

If you put it on a plate this could pass for an east coast J brekky.

How does all that cardboard go with Qantas' policy re recycling etc? Wonder if the used containers and food waste get composted?

Probably about as well as the fact international Y uses single use plastic cutlery or all plates cups etc in the SYD Dom J lounge are single use items.

It's all PR garbage from QF. Their actions don't match their words.

At almost all international destinations that QF flies to, the waste from the aircraft is incinerated due to being a potential quarantine risk.

That doesn't seem to be a problem for SQ, they have metal cutlery even in economy.

Presumably it's separated out and properly handled, i.e. high temperature dishwasher.

Tasty but absolutely required some form of eating implement as it fell apart as soon as it was lifted out of the box.
