Hi Folks

It has been some time since my last trip in a 767 Y seat.

Last few times had been up the front :D

We have a domestic family trip in Y coming up (4 pax) - with one WP.

Currently, we asked for and given 35 BDEF which is an exit row.

Would row 24 be better in terms of legroom (row 4 of 737s argument) ?

Or will we better off staying put in row 35 ?

Disembarkation time is not important.

Short trip BTW (~ 90min)

Thanks

PS: some differences in opinion here (2008)

How old are the family members? Remember you must be at least 15 years old to sit in an exit row - among other requirements.

Also don't forget that row 24 does not have a window :)

Kids are all 18 and over.

Unless I am wrong, I think I'd stick with row 35 (same as Dave Nobe - 2008)

Cool.

And yes, I'd also be inclined to stick with 35 :)

Row 35 DEFG are actually bulkhead seats if I'm not mistaken (even though they are marked as exits) - and are comparable to row 24 DEFG in terms of leg room. Seats 35 AB/JK have more seat pitch as they are directly behind row 34.

This is my personal preference and I've never sat in row 34, but that's by choice. Each time on on a 767 I check them out and am glad I had not selected them. Main reason is I dislike the like proximity to the lavatories. Constantly have people standing around there etc too.

For a short flight like yours, I'd much rather be nearer the front and off the aircraft ASAP. I should add that I'm 5'10. If I was taller, then I might think differently.

You meant "am glad I have not selected them"

Thanks for the tip

2nd Exit seats row 35 A/B & J/K spot on fantastic amount of room between you and seat in front. Did Q HNL/SYD was excellent choice.

could that also mean that 34 would be pretty good for a non tall person so you can recline with impunity if 35 has good pitch behind you?

If you get the international 25/204 config 24F has heaps of leg room as there's no seat 23F but there's no guarantee there won't be an a/c swap to the domestic 30/222 config which does have a 23F & you'd therefore be in just a regular seat.

You could set a seat alert in expert flyer so if 23F becomes available it would mean that you're now on the domestic config however someone may end up being allocated into that seat immediately the swap takes effect so you may not get any notification alert at all.

As ozbeachbabe points out, QF operate two types. I have a dom trip on Saturday and it's the 767-ER. In this bird 24F is easily the best Y seat. (Especially for my 4 hour sector). I'd go for row 24, but it's personal preference. Either way, you'll still be in a better seat than 196 other people.

Out of interest...are you on the B767 randomly, or did you selected it as a farewell trip before QF give them up for good?

I try to choose a 767 where possible. Unfortunately as far as seating allocations go it is very inconsistent as there are regular schedule changes. Sometimes in the last few hours.

The 737 is vastly inferior. Will be sad to see the 767s go.

I also prefer the 767s. As a consolation, some 767s are being replaced by A332 so there are still some triangle flights operated by a widebody aircraft.

Thanks Capt. I've got the 4 hr DRW sector this Sunday. I don't suppose you have any insight into the Row 34/35 recline with impunity question? I had sekected 35A, but just got confirmed to J (Seat 2A) at T-72 (or T-80, I wasn't looking then)

If you're in J it won't matter. Its been a long time since I was in row 34, but I'd say yes to reclining (with about 70% certainty). Others who've flown in that row more recently may be able to correct me if I'm wrong.
