QANTAS Cyber Incident

Interesting how the hackers claim that they were able to access more data than Qantas is aware of. Could explain how my old Qantas Money card was used recently.
Find that difficult to believe. Qantas money credit cards are NAB (were citibank) and the debit card is heritage bank.
Highly likely you just have been phished though or it's random.

Well the news just keeps getting better and better. The Security firm we just hired to redo all our security arrangements for our multi building apartment complex has succumbed to a phishing attack and advised us to watch out for emails that look to be from them and never click in any links in emails.

I hope you replied to them with something appropriate like "Amateurs!"

They got the maximum info from me last month.
Just had an attempted hack from an unrelated site, for which I used the same password. Saved by two factor.
Upgraded to passkey as a result.

p.s. will only accept admonishment from members who have never, EVER, in their lives, used the same password or PIN more than once - anywhere.

Not defending QF but as far as we know PINs (not passwords) were accessed?

As far as has been reported, no type of password/pin was accessed. The info gained from the QF hack does not allow accessing QF accounts, nor any other account that person may have using only the info that they could have gotten from this incident (unless someone was using their date of birth as a password somewhere).

It is possible that some piece of data gained from the QF leak, when matched up and added to data someone may have about a given person from other leaks, could be enough to reasonably attempt access to another account.

I am sure that they would be data matching, Qantas, Optus and Medibank.
Medibank (I think/read) that they had a bonus points agreement, now no longer in op.
Wouldnt put it past someone somewhere, doing data matching.
And if cunning enough, would do data matching with Latitude Finance too, and from what I see, Latitude also had a bonus points agreement with Qantas.
So, in the wider bigger picture, they are linking data/info.

Hmmm. Name, birthday, address … its enough for most banks I’m betting.
