QANTAS Cyber Incident

I've very happily registered with Maurice B class action after getting a generic reply to my Qantas complaint that didn't even address my question about them paying for my credit/identity monitoring...
 
I did see the reporting of that this morning in the overnight briefings about the class action. Has this been started yet? I saw that they are lodging the complaint with the information commissioner and scoping it out.

There’s what… 6 million affected people? If we each got $10 that would be $60 million. If we each got $100 that would be $600 million.

Does anyone really think qantas is gonna pay out $600 million for this?

Then the lawyers take their massive cut, how much would any of us actually get?

I personally don't mind how much. It is the principle. They should be paying for all of us to get credit monitoring. Especially those whose DOB was leaked. If not interested, there is no obligation to register...

Yeh this is lining the pockets of MB lawyers.

Just this April I received $570 from a class action against ANZ Credit Cards... it must have taken many years as I have no recollection (nothing in email either) of ever joining a class action... once I actually got the money I instantly regretted not joining the Optus one... if the lawyers took 40% before my cut then wow they must have made out like bandits. The lesson? Don't ever change your email address 😂

That one did not require registration to be a class member, the foundation case was allowed to require ANZ to pass the information over so it became an opt-out situation for effected customers who did not want to be part of the class. I also received a small amount (<$50) from it.
 
I have no interest in joining the ca. Money or points isn't going to hide my details if they do get released.

Money or points is not going to give me a new identity.

The whole Qantas should be taught a lesson blah blah blah won't stop this, or any other hack, happening again. Not a QF cheerleader, just not a fan of the whole 'I have to be paid for the trauma this hack has caused me' conversation.
 
So QF should ask the hackers how to get back in to your account.;)
I might ask QF to try that - nothing QF have tried so far has worked! I don't know why it is proving so hard for them to find a way to get me back into the account!
 
I don't think that the hackers will get into my QBR account - it stopped letting me have access the day the hack was announced and QF have been unable to find a way to get me back into the account ever since!
I was going to “laugh” at that comment but I know how frustrated you are with QBR! Luckily, I dodged that kerfuffle with my account.
