Got contacted by my mortgage broker, letting me know someone attempted to use my old Qantas Money card number to take out a loan in my name with them. They also created a spoof FF card with my number on it as well as part of the ID checks. Thankfully they could see it was a dead card with fake expiry date but the number and CCV were accurate.

But Qantas said no credit card details had been released. Which likely means no reassurance for people. Maybe coincidence. In context my ANZ card was hacked a couple of years ago just out of my random bad luck. And 28 degrees card prior to that.

Not just 'no credit card details', but somehow someone knew OP's mortgage broker?

Have registered for the Qantas Class action. By sheer coincidence, I got an update on the Optus Class action 2 days ago, which basically said there was no material progress !

How can you take out a loan with a Qantas Money card? This seems like a really bizarre fraud. Surely the mortgage still needs a secured property and title? How would the Qantas-leaked data show anyone who your mortgage broker was? Very odd. Probably your broker was hacked more likely.

Considering Qantas don't issue those cards, I find it very hard that Qantas' reservations CRM system has had that data, let alone that being stolen from that system.
