Would it be fair to say CX releases a few more J award seats to Qantas back to OZ about a month out from a departure?.

I thought it was more 1-2 weeks beforehand or an even shorter period. Plus I also find there is more availability if you book directly with CX rather than through QF.

The odd seat can be released anytime really, but the mass availability is usually much closer in. In the week to a day before departure things generally open up pretty well. This can mean as many as F4 opening up on flights to the US exHKG for example.

Had a look and I see them currently to about 3 weeks out, I'll keep a lookout when time comes in July for 2 x J ex HKG to CNS.

I am looking too...depart with CX to HK in April early am which means a 9 hour layover HK, hoping they release some on the pm flights so we dont have that long wait but not hopeful that two J seats awards are released.

Mel-hkg on CX has shown nothing on early April since its release back nearly a year ago. I've been keeping very close tabs on this as had been targeting mel-hkg-nrt/hnd with CX... But absolteuyl nothing on QF available or Asiamiles direct.

Just as well we got in when we did ....oh well 9 hours lounging !

I’ve searched PER-HKG-LAX in J 2 weeks out from departure for example, returning no award space on CX, but then availability 1 to 4 days out from departure – sometimes same day as departure (especially with the midnight departure from Perth to Hong Kong).

Im looking for 2 x J on CX (its a direct flight) HKG/CNS Aug., cant see any yet, so going to take a punt and hope they turn up maybe 2 weeks before required.

Can we book directly with CX using QFF points?

Have QF award flights booking HKG/JFK/HKG, Qantas online say its the same QF booking No. on CX for seat booking its not.

Update: Its Ok Mrs Lime went CX HK site all done, gee she is smart :).
