Qantas credit card booking error (4613)

I tried to book a KIX-MEL reward flight on the QF website and it gives me the following error message, is it a known problem that Qantas website couldn't take JPY payments?
We have difficulty with the credit card details provided. Please check the credit card information and try again. (4613 - 33303)

I tried calling to QF, but they said they encountered the same issue and couldn't process the payment in JPY.

Is the booking showing on your profile ? If so call them again and get them to try processing the payment again. Also call your credit card issuer.
 
No, the booking isn't showing on my profile. The card definitely works as I booked a domestic QF flight on the website afterwards and it accepted the card, plus I've tried multiple cards and none of them worked.

Problem is because it's a JQ flight, a lot of the QF agents don't know how to search for reward availability, and when I finally found one who can see availability, she said the system won't let her process the payment also before even asking for my credit card number.
 
Is this award seats or paid fare ? If it is the former I am able to make a dummy booking on line KIK_MEL flying with Jetstar until I stopped at the payment page.

Award seats, the problem occurs at the payment page after you enter in the credit card details. No matter which credit card I use, I get the error message mentioned in my original post, and the call centre either cannot see award availability, or comes back and say their system won't let them proceed to payment either.
 
It’s likely an issue with the currency conversion. They’ll likely convert it to AUD to ticket it.

You’ll need to call and pay over the phone.

That's what I did, but I tried three times and no agent has managed to get past the payment issue yet. In fact only one of the agents managed to get this far, others insist that JQ doesn't fly from KIX-MEL.

If its a flight originating in Japan, it will only take fares priced in JPY and then you suffer the FX :)

Just speculating - phantom award availability?

Speculation II: You wouldn't have foreign currency transactions barred on all your cards by any chance (as I do on mine).

Thanks RooFlyer, I doubt it's phantom award availability as the agent actually managed to create an itinerary and I can see it on the Qantas website, just that she couldn't take payment so it got auto-cancelled later in the day.

About the FX transaction, I used a US credit card so everything is overseas anyway. I also needed to book a domestic flight using points on QF and the same card went through without any issues.

Thanks for everyone's help. At the end it just isn't worth the hassle so I booked the flight using cash on JQ, the redemption value would be 1.2 cents per point, not bad given I have too much QF points, but rather not spend hours with QF.
