Hi
Have been searching here for answers but most thread are very old.

I have a Complimentary Qantas Club Invitation, via being made Silver, it has the hologram and an expiry date of end of the year.

I was hoping to use it coming back from LAX. where I think it is valid.
However now I am flying out via Dallas (DFW) and they only have an Associated lounge which it seems they are not allowed to be used at.

Is this correct?

Should I just try my luck? Anybody have any recent experience with this.

Thanks

Correct. Such passes are only valid in Qantas operated lounges. I don't think trying your luck would get you far as the lounge agents, likely having never seen one, simply say "did you get this out of a cereal box?" if the re-route was due to Qantas, there may be an option.

You might not get in but if you don't try you and all of us will not know either.

Thanks

Is that lounge worth it? I will act dumb and try as the card expires anyway.

DFW was the best airport I used last year in the USA from memory, though I think Qantas now flys to BNE from Tom Bradley in LAX not the old shed that I used last time.

The LAX lounge is indeed a Oneworld lounge so access would not be granted. And to be honest, you're not missing much. It's over-crowded, with below par food and wifi that does not work (you mainly struggle to even connect it self-implodes there's so many people on it). I'd save it for another lounge (say the SYD or MEL international lounges if you can, the SYD one I hear is quite nice (from people who are wandering down the escalators as I leave the F lounge ;))

There are no QF operated lounges in the USA, so your pass won't be much use unfortunately. The AC's in DFW are average, and the lounge QF use is an outsourced facility there (Which apparently is a little better than the AC in terms of it actually having some kind of Champagne and food gratis, but it's not like the lounges we're used to here).

I am not "used to" any lounges...LOL. Anything will be a step up for me.
By saying DFW was a good airport I meant the rest of it, not the lounges.
It seemed fairly new and effecient, compared to LAX and the several other domestic ones I used.

Have put in for Business Class points upgrade both ways, flying PE, so will wait and hope.
If I get Business Class Upgrade can I then use the lounge via the Business Boarding Pass, like in Australia.

One more question, do the Qantas bag tag disc things and the check in by tapping your Silver/Gold Q card work over there?
I am searching through here but it is taking ages...

No. The Tags work for Domestic travel only.

The NGCI works for Domestic (selected ports) and Trans-Tasman only. Qantas International Airport Check-in | Faster Smarter Check-in

You'll need to use normal check in (as the security there requires a boarding pass to be airside and a lot of check-points will scan it to verify you are flying that day; the NGIC cards only have a bar code, and they only work on QF's domestic system) and then proceed through the security circus:)

You will be able to use the lounge as a J pax should your upgrade clears.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Just a bump - confirming that the lounge at the TBIT is a joint lounge at LAX so the complimentary pass won't be accepted?

Maybe this is too late for the OP.. but I have used the lounge Invitation at the AA Admiral's Lounge at LAX Terminal 4 and also at the OneWorld lounge at LAX TBIT without any problems..

I am a WP and used the lounge invitation to take an additional guest (more than I am entitled).. maybe that had a part in it!

Havent gone yet....a few more days...but the lounge in DFW attempt is in early December.
Good to hear it works for LAX, though as you said maybe being Platinum had a bit to do with it.
