Hi to you all

SHMBO and I are booked on a J awards flight to London via Dubai early next year.

I have checked the chaffeur service small print which says:

Maximum capacity per sedan is two adults, with a total luggage limit of two suitcases plus one carryon bag. Additional charges apply if a larger vehicle or child or infant car seat is required.

So, flying J with one carryon bag between two people. Not much of a service it seems.

I wonder what the additional charges will be for 2 carryon bags!

Also, I wonder what happens at Heathrow. Same distance and baggage allowance, I dont know but maybe will by next year.

Cheers

Two things I'm learning from this...

1) Book tickets individually so you can each have your own car to/from the airport - you can have a race to see who arrives first!

2) Carry on suddenly becomes a suitcase for the purpose of chauffeur services.

Seriously you'll be fine, have fun!

Even if all booked on the same ticket, all passengers will get a car if requested.

Is this true? I have a potential dilemma along these lines with an upcoming F flight.

SWMBO and I (both WP) are flying QF F direct from LHR to MEL in December. WP luggage allowance for our ticket (booked prior to the recent changes) is 4 pieces of 32kgs, plus carry-on and laptop bag etc. That allowance is EACH.

We are relocating from the UK so plan on using ALL of that allowance, plus probably two or three pre-paid excess bags as well (which would include golf clubs, snowboard/skis and a road bike in a bike bag/case). We could potentially (and legally) have a dozen bags/cases at around 300kgs in weight. All of this stuff would need to be transported at both ends from home->LHR and MEL->home.

It is a First World Problem - and I don't want look a gift horse in the mouth by complaining against being provided with a decent benefit by QF - but is there much use in only allowing 2 cases per car if the F allowance is for double that and a lot of people travel as a couple? Could the F benefit be more than J too?

Anybody know how much the 'additional charges' might be? (And I wonder if I can order a mini-van instead of booking two cars? Surely that is better for them in the long run?)
