Yesterday on a flight from Brisbane to Sydney a rather exuberant cabin manager (or whaterever they call this role now) gave a long rambling speech on countries in need of help- citing Syria and the Philippines and then going into detail for several minutes about their respective humanitarian needs, natural disaster, facts and figures etc etc.
I found this really odd as it could be interpreted as implying that the change for good donations would find their way to these places, which seems to be difficult to justify with any certainty based on what I have read in the inflight magazine about the program and its achievements.
On most domestic sectors the program isn't actually mentioned which made the whole thing even weirder.I have heard the standard spiel many times on Qantas international flights, so if he was trying to get my attention it worked- but not in a good way!!
Has anyone else had this experience?

I hear the Change for Good spiel on most domestic flights. I can't remember any time that the CSM (or any other staff member) rants on and on about it but I definitely hear it more often than not.

Yeah I get it on most flights. It's usually the cue for me to pop in my noise cancelling headphones and start a movie on my tablet.

Having said that I can't recall any extended spiel.

I do it on international flights - usually to get rid of any foreign coins when coming home. I usually empty my wallet of coins before flying domestically.

I've heard extended spiels before, generally after some disaster has occurred..

How odd. I can recall hearing it once or twice, but far from most [Edit: domestic ]flights. I think an extended 'hard sell' spiel as described would be out of order.

I use them on international.

The hard sell on domestic flights is probably over the top but remember there is a lot of international connecting passengers who don't fly QF and therefore wouldn't know about the program. If I opened the headphones and saw the envelope in the pack, I would want to know what it is for too
