Here I am again, bright and early at 6am on a Saturday morning and it is relatively quiet. But the staff are chirpy and eager to assist.

I find a nice spot watching the sun rise over the airport whilst enjoying my hearty breakfast - mango/banana smoothie, multigrain sourdough toast with baked beans, scrambled eggs, hashed browns, and the obligatory cappuccino. A great start before my 9 hour flight to Hong Kong flying Cathay (review coming up next).

It amazes me how much Qantas has improved over the past year or so in terms or its customer service and quality of product. It is a real pleasure being a Gold FF with Qantas. :)

The showers are pretty swanky there too I find, perfect as part of the 'awakening process' especially considering how early one needs to leave home to get to the airport.

I agree with the OP. The food and beverage offering has certainly improved and the quality of the food is decent.

During my last visit in the morning, there were lounge staff roaming around the lounge offering a English muffin with bacon and egg, in addition to the buffet offering. Unfortunately they ran out before they get to my table.

No fizz? :). Seriously, nice to hear positive comments from someone enjoying the experience. ;)

Thanks for sharing this experience, and also your kind and encouraging words. We're happy when you're happy. :)

I'll agree that the SYD QF J lounge is a big improvement on the past, didn't feel overcrowded (early afternoon), good food selection and good range of magazines.

I've always found the international J lounge quite pleasant but I will be saying goodbye to it for now... The international F lounge beckons.
