Qantas booking through Japan Airlines (JAL) - Seat Selection

Update - JAL indeed came to the party, although I had to call them because they were going to shorten my trip rather than extend it.

Wife and I now fly a day earlier (on way) and day later (on return) and flight time 4 hours earlier to adjust for the additional time spent flying around Russia both ways.

Call Centre was also able to give us Exit row but not bulkhead as we previously had.

And yes it will cost me a couple of extra days accommodation at circa $200-$250 per day but rather that and enjoy the 2 extra days than pay an extra $750 each for flights

We (2pax) have booked JAL MEL-NRT-MEL in J for April next year.
All window seats are unavailable -

Is this a QSuites scenario whereby you can phone up and ask to be moved into these seats? Ideally we'd both have a window seat each. We booked these flights using QF points and hold no JAL/partner status.
 
Booked yesterday SYD-HND and etickets received and passenger info filled out but still cant access my booking on the JAL site but was able to allocate our seats via Royal Jordanian....annoying but maybe has something to do with the date as we dont travel until May 2023

I believe with the JAL Apex Suites you will need status to be able to select the window seats unfortunately,

I'm experiencing exactly the same issue - however am receiving the below error message when trying to log into JAL to manage my booking.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm using the PNR provided from QF.

I get the same issue on a flight from the US to Sydney via Tokyo - booking is definitely ticketed. I'm definitely entering the details correctly.

On Royal Jordanian and Royal Air Maroc sites I can view and select seats for the Tokyo to Sydney leg. However, the US to Tokyo flight gives me "Seatmap unavailable" and I then cannot proceed to select anything. ExpertFlyer brings up the seat map just fine.

Additionally the local number to call JAL results in fax/modem tones. https://www.jal.co.jp/jp/en/information/branch/sr/au/. The Japan number has a long wait, and after holding for an hour got hung up.
 
Just make sure you are putting your First and Middle name in the first name box if that is the way you booked.

Yes, as mentioned I'm definitely entering details correct. I'm having the same issue as jlzrbm.

  • Correct details gets me the error "Error: An unexpected error has occured. Please try again. (0000)"
  • Incorrect details gets me the error "Error: We are unable to find your booking. Reminder: if you have a middle name on the booking, please enter your first name followed by the middle name without space or special characters."
 
I got that (0000) message when they started cancelling and rebooking my flights.

I could not access MMB again until it was fully rebooked.

looks like they will only fly to Europe every second day (staggered between the 4 cities they fly) for the foreseeable future
 
Over 3.5 hours on hold to Japan Airlines and no answer - not much better then Qantas. Worse actually as this is an overseas number.

Lucky for included unlimited international calls these days.

Office Hours
Daily 10:00-20:00 Australian Eastern Standard Time
Option 1 > option 8 for seat selection.
 
I just called that 1800 number and got through the selections (1,8) and am currently on hold (music), No fax tones or anything.
 
Still fax tones for me from my Telstra mobile, double checked it's the correct number too. I suppose I could try using the *gasp* landline.
