Qantas Award Seat re-Availablity

Hi guys
Last night i was looking at booking a Return Award Seat MCY-MEL via SYD for 2 people on the 19th August and return 21st August on Qantas
I returned to book it this morning and the Return home Leg isnt available in Business all the way back to The Sunshine Coast for 2 people. (but it is for one)

My Question is, do you think they will make it available again in the future? or should i just book the flight from Brisbane?

I wanted to fly out of the the Sunshine Coast because i could spent a few hours in the Sydney lounge and then get a connecting flight to Mel on a a330 (in both directions)

If i fly out of BNE it'll be a direct flight on a 737

i understand that no one has a crystal ball to predict the future, But i've just wondering if anyones has experence on Award seats being reopened once they have been closed.

Do you have any QF FF Status? You could call them to request that they open up a seat in business on the return leg. You may also want to try a multi city booking, so you can depart and arrive from different airports!

Just a bronze member, I might call them anyways and ask what the deal is. i don't know if I'll have much luck but it's worth a try I guess!

Bronze members can't request additional award seats to be released.
Generally speaking additional award seats don't get released once the current batch is taken up.
Occasionally they can be though (probably if someone cancelled an award booking) but your expectation should be that the horse has already bolted.

Currently there are still "I" business class fare buckets on your flights which means business class is still relatively empty. You should book award one way and then for the return buy a economy fare and then apply for an upgrade with points. Check the airlines upgrade rules first.
