Qantas Auckland lounge

Flown out a few times since it has opened on the 0605 to BNE, but only managed to pop in once for a takeaway coffee.

Had a quick glance and it seems a bit dreary, probably because of the lack of windows.

The Platinum dining area is between the bar and the corridors to the bathroom, and while I haven’t been inside long enough I could forsee a lot of people using that as a shortcut.

Will be in AKL next week and will see how far I get with the BM request.

Velocity Platinum was introduced in 2011, 9 years before the COVID shenanigans.
Although Gold was introduced in 2005 at the same time as VFF. So you could have been top tier VFF for 15 years up until COVID shenanigans - as I was. But I’m soon to hard land again to “Forever Red”…

You're probably right. I started proper flying for work a few years before my daughter was born in 2007. Only took me 3 months to get top tier which I assumed was Platinum, but maybe it was gold. All I know is I had lounge access and a number to call if I ever needed assistance, which I abused the hell out of.

In the AKL QP, first visit since the make over and demise of "the cupboard". Nice lounge , comfortable enough. Beef ragu was ok and the Mission Syrah's decent enough. Since I'm now a lowly LTS who's wings have been well and truly clipped, any lounge is a bonus by not having to pay $20 for a mediocre pint and North of $20 for something to eat.

Turned away from the lounge this afternoon as WP on Qantas booked TN flight to PPT. Suggested we try Strata lounge. Um no. Told agreement with TN was ended a while ago. IMG_2386.jpeg

QF code or TN code?

If the former then should have been let in.
www.qantas.com/en-au/at-the-airport/lounges/access

The QF flight number 2 goes to the following text
The flight can be operated by a non-Qantas carrier, unless travelling with a Qantas Club Flexible membership. For eligible customers booked on a Qantas flight number on codeshare routes with partner airlines, refer to each individual partner page for lounge access eligibility.

On FT with pax flying QF code on TN FT AKL lounge

Could you help a newbie with the rules for this AKL lounge? BAC silver/OW sapphire but next flight is an economy class Air Tahiti Nui with QF codeshare flight number AKL-PPT. Will the card/QF flight number alone get me into this lounge or will I need to head over to Strata with my Dragonpass?
...
No to QF lounge as not flying their metal but Dragonpass into Strata which is pretty good for this type of lounge.

Qantas booking and Qantas flight number on boarding pass. Just couldn't be bothered to argue
But concerning if true. I've seen reports online of same problem in SIN those with a QF code on Indigo.

What good is buying the QF code if they're going to pick and choose the benefits on the day.

Seems to be an issue at the outstations. I also had to talk my way into the LAX F lounge flying FJ (QF code) before FJ joined OW.

I wouldn’t expect an issue at SYD flying the new direct flights (assuming they’re bookable with QF code?). Which you need to get lounge access if not in J.

I would recommend OP contacts QF and complains.
