Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

I'm pretty sure the requirement of 2700 on QF flight numbers (codeshare included) has been there since the start of P1.

The loyalty bonus SCs might be what you're thinking of - every 500 SC on QF/JQ, up to 2000 per year, gets a loyalty bonus.
yeah. I went back via wayback machine to 2016 as a random date and it says "Qantas marketed flights" so same thing.

my bad indeed. I've been under this (wrong) impression for years! d'oh

(shows how little I fly JQ! :D )

Hi,

I'm Gold and finished on 935 SC on 31st Jan.

Am I right in thinking I should get some of those points rolled into this year? Or do I not qualify for that?

Yeah you should, just wait a day or two and they'll show up.

OK that does seem odd. My own "2700 requirement" has gone down with QF flights (inc CR SC earn - like yours) as appropriate.

It is a known issue that the 1800 don't show on that particular part of the account summary but any QF earned SC's definitely have credited.

I'd contact the VIP Team to follow up or just confirm for you.
Unlike yours, my "2700 requirement" didn't reduce with CR SC earn. I just assumed that was how it worked; by not including the CR SC earn.

After your message I started by checking the rules, thinking they'd be ambiguous or not address this particular issue. But no, it's there in black and white (in the Q&As for Points Club benefits):

"As a Points Club member, you can enjoy earning Status Credits on Qantas marketed Classic Flight Rewards. Status Credits earned via Classic Flight Reward bookings will contribute to your status, Loyalty Bonus, Platinum Bonus Reward, Platinum One Bonus and lifetime tiers."

Thx for the heads up.

In 2022 I did exactly 1200SC's so retained WP through to the end of 2023. Check in the new year, my profile still showed 1200SC's rather than the 500SC I was expecting to have been rewarded. It stayed like that for the whole month and I thought perhaps, finally, Qantas is comping me somehow. Alas today 1st Feb, all SC's wiped back to zero, not even the 500 I thought I'd have...

Membership years vary, and are not all calendar aligned... it sounds as though you are a January year-ending member who has just reset for your membership year, in which case the rollover 500 SCs should show up sometime in the coming days. Is that possible? What expiry month shows on the QF card or digital card?

Cheers,
Matt.

31st December for me, so January is usually when everything resets. Have my new memebrship card and all already.

Weird - usually the SCs are wiped right away, as you mentioned. Definitely worth the follow up with QFF after a few days into February. You should be eligible for rollover of anything earned in the prior membership year, up to 500 SCs

Yep, I was expecting only 500 SCs to have rolled over, and for the first few days in January assumed this is would be corrected. But it seemed to have stuck through all of Jan, and I have refrained from being hopeful that QF for whatever reason "gifted" me the SC's. It looks like they haven't!

I think they are still working it out, I'm in a similar position - SCs showed as expired in statement but still showing in tally, Nothing rolled over so it shows me chasing the full amount for renewal.

In the exact same boat. It actually says „days left: -1“

Well good on you Qantas, one of the flights I booked with your generous $50 voucher was cancelled just over a day before. Im on a later flight now but I lost the row 4 seat I had and now squished in elsewhere. I think every Q flight Ive booked in last couple years or so has been cancelled or changed.!

Oh - and now - with a couple of hours to go - they have cancelled/changed again!! Im only im Melb for a couple of days and now cut hours out of that!!!... More unreliable than Jetstar now!!

Interesting news from today regarding status extensions.
Not sure though if this new status extension further extends previous ones.
back then, it was intended to be an apology, now we are full of praise…

looks like all things are fixed 😂😂😂

Wonder if that LinkedIn post is pre-empting a letter to QFF members mentioned in this article from the Oz on-line this evening:

Alan Joyce spruiks summer success for Qantas and defends recent turnbacks

Some extracts:
Qantas chief Alan Joyce has written to the airline’s 14 million frequent flyers, to allay any concerns about the recent spate of turnbacks and highlight performance improvements.

Data shared by the airline showed 81.5 per cent of its flights got away on time in January, compared with 78.5 per cent in the same month three years ago.

Flight departures are considered “on time” if they push back from the gate within 15 minutes of the schedule.

In the last two weeks at least six services have turned around mid-flight due to mechanical or technical issues, or in the case of a QantasLink flight on Wednesday, unforecast turbulence.

Seven people were injured when the Dash 8 struck turbulence on the way from Brisbane to Hervey Bay. Rather than continue, pilots returned to Brisbane and two people were taken to hospital.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau was not expected to investigate the incident due to the fact the flight crew could not have been aware of the turbulence and there were no new safety lessons to be learned.

Mr Joyce said the turnbacks reflected Qantas’s “strong safety culture”.

“Our pilots take a conservative approach when issues do occur because that’s how we train them,” he wrote.

“I congratulate them for doing that and encourage them to keep doing it.”
