i can't believe it, I may have benefitted from this unless it was a fluke cancellation by someone else.
Booked SYD-PER-SIN dec 30 earlier in the year in Y with a 2 hr layover which got reduced to 1 hr. Been freaking out since, worrying if the flight in was late. After reading the AFF newsletter today decided to see if anything better was available and some how secured SYD-BNE-SIN on QF Dec 25 Christmas day in J.

Was hoping to extend the holiday as my wife hasn't seen her family in 3 years, although will need to throw away our cheap flights to SIN-BKK in Jan and get some earlier flights.

flights ticketed and paid, now to cancel my classic reward in Y.

I booked this too but on 24th Dec (am also going to BKK too!).

SYD-BNE-SIN on QF Dec 25 Christmas day in J.

These were available a few days ago (24th and 25th of December) from both Melbourne and Sydney in J. I booked two seats then, went back online the next day and they were all gone. Looks like they pulled them to then release them again today.
Hoping some seats come available departing Singapore (or anywhere in asia) for early January.

Anyone looking to get tickets should do so as soon as possible.

Once the American bloggers publicise it, they will be all gone. Reward flights to/from Australia are highly prized by North Americans and they have tonnes of ways to easily earn QFF points (it is a transfer partner of Capital One, Amex and Chase).

The other thing I wonder is how much of this PR stunt is driven by Qantas Group‘s balance sheet/accounting to reduce the carrying amount of liabilities coming from QFF points balances by quarter-end/2022 year-end.

This is quite odd because I got through in a minute or two earlier today (around 4pm Sydney time), and other WPs have reported the same.

Do we know the devil in the detail yet about the status extensions? Currently Gold with expiry in April 2023 and sitting on a lousy 35 SC's - mainly due to flying EK a lot as booking a QF ticket on EK metal from MEL-CAI via DXB adds about a thousand dollars or more

I actually just called through to fix a flight that was changed by Qantas (and the only options were Accept, no other options provided). Also picked up in a few rings by what sounded like Auckland, so what you're experiencing definitely seems unusual.

If you can't log in, I wonder if the phone system isn't recognising your account either, and therefore you're not being put into the WP Phone Queue.

Maybe you could try ring QFF (13 11 31) and selection the option for help logging in, and see if they can fix up your account?

Just completely rejigged our overseas trip next year and saving around $8000 from what I'd originally booked as one pax was paid for. This offer gave me impetus to try something different but not one flight is on Qantas. Just burned a few points.

Cheers - currently in Egypt and the camel hasn't delivered my email yet. An extra 12 month extension will be very welcome considering the benefits that QF Gold gives when flying on an EK ticket. Life would be so much easier if QF started doing Dubai flights again!

that's interesting, i was checking regularly for a long time but gave up as there was never anything. Only checked today on the back of the AFF email.

I was lucky i had enough Krisflyer points so am returning on Singapore air in J on Jan 25, didn't have enough for a return though.

I am OK with the status extension. Booking has been a mess especially with bookings that could not be ticketed, which effectively ruined my chances of maintaining status, so 1 extra year is atleast something.
