I believe only Biz rewards are available at the moment (I noticed them come online a couple of weeks ago).Qantas and Hawaiian are now showing award flights for the same route bookable through Qantas FF., Apart from the difference in mile/points required has anyone flown both and what makes for the better flight? e.g seating, service and food.
Thanks @SYD . Hawaiian has become available in economy as well; not that I particularly want to fly Y but J not showing, probably from lack of status. My guess is there's not a lot in it, better to save the points.,I believe only Biz rewards are available at the moment (I noticed them come online a couple of weeks ago).
AFAIK, HA are still flying their older Biz cabin between HNL and Oz, so the QF hard product is better. I’ve not flown them, so can’t comment on the soft product.
Also note that until they become a full OW member, lounge access with a J reward ticket will be limited to wherever HA send their PAX to in SYD etc.
As an aside, I noticed the HA flight was on the SYD F lounge departure board the other night. I asked the front desk staff if they were allowing HA PAX in and it was a polite “No” (not totally unexpected, but they start letting FJ in a few months prior to official full OW membership).
Yes, didn't notice the difference in taxes, something to ponder. AS are certainly getting things together, I hope to take a paid flight with them next year. This is 1 March next year, interestignly the taxes are a lot less but one other thing is it books onto the AS flight number, the actual flight number is HA452.

I’m seeing J a few weeks out (not uncommon for US airlines). This is 1 March next year, interestignly the taxes are a lot less but one other thing is it books onto the AS flight number, the actual flight number is HA452.

Thank you, I'll keep an eye on it as we get closer to the date. Lounges not really a concern as will be staying with friends.I’m seeing J a few weeks out (not uncommon for US airlines).

The AS flight code was discussed in other threads. Also why I cautioned above that despite a OW flight code, HA technically isn’t OW yet, so doesn’t meet the “OW marketed and operated” requirement for QF lounge access.
Thanks, good to know. I've only ever flown United and a forgettable domestic or two props. I was under the impression Alaska was better than the others.HA J doesn’t hold a candle to QF J, at least on their A330s which service the AU/NZ routes. No privacy and I wasn’t a fan of the catering.
HA Y however is very good, I’d say the best American Y as you’ll usually get a free meal even on domestic flights and an alcoholic rum punch. However I’d still say QF is better, In HNL the HA lounge for domestic routes is like a train station, I’d rather be in the terminal.
