Qantas A380 reliability issues creeping up again?

The Australian online reporting that a workers light was left in the wing of an A380 and it made a return trip to LAX. Three points of possible detection for the light being left there apparently were missed.

I wonder if those flights had a light payload?

Today's anticipated five and a half hour delay to QF7 departing SYD for distant DFW in the USA begs the question: why do these QFi A380 delays (presumably often for extra maintenance required at short notice) occur so often?

A380s must be complex transport equipment to maintain, probably more so as they age, but while it can't be suggested all other A380 operators have a 100 per cent punctuality record, some despite all the challenges such as SQ manage to creep fairly close to that 'perfect' benchmark.

VH-OQB must have failed in LAX, as the QF12 SYD arrival today was no more.

QF7/8 on Saturday 5 September: cancelled.

Yesterday's QF11 SYD-LAX more than two hours late arriving at gate; today's QF7 SYD-DFW delayed by more than five hours in departure.

QF1 today delayed almost 3 hours due to last minute aircraft swap with OQD operating it even though departure from SYD is 10 minutes before its scheduled arrival as QF64?

History repeats - QF1 yesterday delayed almost 5 hours with OQB operating it even though departure from SYD is 10 minutes before its scheduled arrival as QF64?

It doesn’t appear to be mentioned here, I was on VH-OQH 4th Sept, it was delayed departure by 2 hours. The problems were a catering truck hit the aircraft and caused damage, and the IFE wasn’t working and was being fixed.

The catering truck was just bad luck but the IFE issue more aircraft specific.

Unfortunately I can see why QF want to accelerate the retirement of this aircraft, seems very regularly the a380 is delayed which must cost them a bomb each time. Shame because I really enjoy my travel on the a380, there really is no other aircraft like it, and it appears there will never be another one that compares.

Not sure if it's maintenance related or just demand planning, but my QF81 booking in November just got cancelled as they've switched a number of flights (looks like 3 out of 7 days) from the A380 back to the A330.

Has anyone else noticed that QF is changing some flight schedules around? The QF81 (A388) that I was looking at last week has now disappeared (Nov 26). Seems like its operating on other days of that week.

Timetable shows QF81 not operating on Nov 26 only but oddly QF82 is scheduled on the same night

My flight was 30 Nov, but from a quick glance it seems they've subbed out the A380 on around 40% of the scheduled QF81 / 82 services from late November to the new year.

Most are swapped with the A330-300 but there's one flight swapped with the 787 and another with the older A330-200.

Interestingly given the other post it looks like 26 Nov now has QF81 running again as an A380.
