not sure I like the green for economy......

LOL agreed about the green. Military style anyone? Gross. Quite unimpressed :/ Did they get a discount on green as opposed to red fabric? I mean sure... mix it up but vomit green colour? Hmmm interesting. I'm sure it hides spilled coffee stains better than red :p

Ever since the unveiling of their F and J seats I've been a tad unimpressed with those two. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Skybed 2.0 is a vast improvement over 1.0 and that the F seat will be luxurious, but IMO they could have done a bit more for a 'new era' so to speak. The F seats look very nice but they do seem to lack a bit of spark or originality. I guess the only comparison is the SQ suite which is a tad unfair to judge it against. As I said, I'm sure there are decent improvements over current seats, but it doesn't seem like anything to get too excited about. The best J improvement will be the lie flat skybed. Everything else seems a bit 'meh'.

Agreed.

Overall, the cabins may survive the initial popularity surge, after which most airlines will find the need to make extensive changes to increase pax numbers and improve economy. (Remember the 747 and the changes after its initial introduction).

And a bar for economy passengers but I doubt it will have alcohol like the current business bar.

True it'll probably be just soft drinks.

If you've travelled on a 744 Y class long haul (and on other aircraft too), you'll remember that in the Y galley, they usually have one or two trays of water/juice sitting inside the galley and it's basically a help yourself deal in between meal service. The new bar simply elminates the need for people to actually go inside the galley to perform the same function, which I'm sure annoys cabin crew and passengers. A dedicated Y bar for this purpose will be very useful.

Ewwww, yes that whY section is ugly. :-|

Hmm... which means one would still have to disturb the FAs for booze. :)

I like going into the galley to chat with the cabin crew, so asking for booze is like a perfect excuse. I've not felt like I've annoyed anyone so far, and in fact most seem to welcome the break in monotony on those long haul overnights.

True, sometimes a bit of a chin wag is nice. But some shy people would never dare to push the blue curtain aside.

My opinion of the drinks in the galley on 744's is that only people seated near the galley tend to even know its there, unless they are an experienced flyer. I reckon there would be heaps of folks in Y that have no idea they can go grab an OJ from the galley. So along that line of thinking...I would guess too many long haul pax still don't drink enough water/juice to keep themselves hydrated. Perhaps with the bar there this will encourage people to get up more to get a drink, and go for a walk which also helps to prevent things like DVT.

I know it's drawing a bit of a long bow but...you never know! :p

The original release photos showed Red for economy.
Am thinking it might be like SQ with different colors for different zones.

I don't mind the strong bold earth colours - adds a good base colour to an otherwhise fairly white aircraft

EDIT: Indeed Picture 6 (of the Internal bar) appears to show the Red seats

When there are two large economy sections, one upstairs and one down, having the seats different colours would be a huge help to prevent people from 'getting lost' and sitting in the 'same seat' but on the wrong deck. With weary passengers on a 15 hour flight, this is more than possible. Different coloured Y zones would probably prevent this.

Is that why?

OK so now I'm confused. I thought that at their big launch of the new products they revealed new RED Y seats? And now they have gone for green? So what's the deal with that?

I think that the coffee stains might blend in better with red than green. Who is going to be the first to try it out?

I'm also assuming that when the bird goes to the paint shop, she will get her tail resprayed with Flying Kangaroo V2.0.

I remember my very first trip in a QF 747 (back in 1974) and each section of the economy cabin had different coloured seats.

Maybe not though. The tail paintwork is done prior to fitting due to some procedure with the composites. (I can't recall the exact detail)

I have a vague recollection of reading somewhere that the tail was going to get resprayed. Will try to dig up a reference.

I understood that paint job it has now related to the process of balancing the relevant parts,

Re: Qanas A380-01 Pictures

Hmm this baby is supposed to be delivered in October right?

If so, what takes so long between now and then? The interior looks close to finished (from the pics) and surely a paint job doesn't take 5 months. Do they really test it for 5 months between now and delivery? I thought testing was fairly quick once the type (A380) was certified?

The tail will be repainted as it has the old kangaroo on it- it was painted before QF launched the new stylised logo (to cater for the significant unpaintable areas on the fuselage tail on the A380)

Re: Qanas A380-01 Pictures

Part of the reason between painting an inservice in Oct is regulatory.
Because its a new aircraft type it will have to pass local CASA type checks . This can involve test flights so the safety processes are checked. Also give tech crew something other than sumulator training with 3 arriving between OCT-DEC
From memory when the A330 came online QF operated a number of test flights to the Dom cities the A330 would operate. Also it gives the staff at these airports first hand opportunities to go thru the ground handling/turn a round practise before going into service...hopefully this stops any T5 issues occuring...and I'm sure they have to film lots of lovely low flying ads with chior children running around the plane as well
