So I need to burn some QFF points and deciding between Manila and Kuala Lumpur departing Brisbane.
I’ve never been to either Malaysia or Philippines and don’t judge me, but my decision is coming down to the Business class experience between Malaysia Air and Qantas business class as the deciding factor on which country I visit!!

Has someone flown both carriers business class and can offer some insight?

Happy to hear opinions of countries as well, planning a two week trip and will obviously not stay in the capitals!

My preference would be MH and Malaysia, very similar countries in terms of culture and cheap hotels etc. KUL is a much better experience re the terminal etc, QF probably has the edge J wise but how important is 9 hours in the air vs two weeks on the ground?

The Qantas business class seat is slightly more spacious. Both have a similar seat made by the same manufacturer, but Malaysia Airlines squeezes an extra seat into every second row. This means some seats don't have as much storage space etc. Other than that, MH probably has the edge in most areas!

MH has better catering in general. But the exact seat I'd still give it a slight edge to QF. I'd also likely give KL the edge over Manila in 2025 as a destination to visit. Plus you can go to all sorts of other domestic Malaysian places quite cheaply from KL.

If it were me I’d be booking two one-ways, especially if you have two weeks.
BNE-KUL. Enjoy some time in KL and get out to the Cameron Highlands.
Then book yourself a cheap KUL-MNL ticket and go see Manila for a bit as well. I’d suggest also heading south out of Manila and spending a couple of nights around Tagaytay or Taal somewhere.

Then you can take QF back MNL-BNE.
