So had my first Qantas A220 flight yesterday from Canberra to Melbourne. Here are a couple of observations:

Pluses:
*Great crew
*Bar service (early afternoon flight)
*Catering (biscuits and dip)
*Personal space (in extra space seating)

Negative:
*Economy seat fabric like steel wool soap pads
*Poor fit and finish on seats
*No IFE, big miss for a plane that will be with us for the next 15+ years
*Increased interior noise than 717

The interior fit and finish is a definite down-grade from the 717, particularly the economy cabin, which was obviously done on a budget and is awful. You would loose a layer of skin if you were wearing shorts on those seats.

That said the crew, bar service and catering lifted the experience up.

6/10

It's a bad day when JQ seats look better than QF.

First A220 flight today QF1257 BNE-MEL seated in U

Pluses: nil

Minuses:
Flight cancelled a couple of hours out
Involuntary downgrade on the substituted QF629

Glad we didn’t get QF631, which has also just been cancelled.

Cheers skip

Something amusingly weird going on. Perhaps operational experience is pushing out schedules?

Have a 220 flight booked MEL-BNE in a couple of weeks. Orig 1045-1255. Yesterday, it was moved by 5min to 1059-1255. Just now, moved yet again by 5min to 1055-1300.

I noticed other instances of QF1254 have also been moved, so seemingly not a one off.

Unless theyre factoring in creepi g delays early now 🤣

I can't readily tell if other schedules have been pushd also (eg CBR)

We were booked on an A220 flight from CBR to MEL last week that was shifted back over an hour. Thankfully we were notified the day before. I had to reschedule as it would have caused a misconnection. We did end up flying on the A220 at 6am instead. I asked the crew about the time change for the later flight and they said the scheduling was over ambitious at the moment. The same plane was due to go back to CBR from MEL at 8am making it impossible to use for the 8:50am CBR-MEL flight we were originally booked on. I guess the expectation was two separate planes would be used, but only one was available 🤷‍♀️

Loved the shiny new plane feeling, USB sockets and Qi charger. The legroom in J definitely felt less than the 717 and 737s, and I was amused to note that the row 4 seats on the left side had far more space than J.

I heard the green A220 already needs an engine change and the other one is having tech faults on almost every sector. Although given I was told this a couple of weeks back it seems the issue has been resolved more conservatively
Curse of the P&W GTF

Which airline is it that's operating the A220 for Qantaslink?

The wireless charger is under the arm rest which is also an area that gets quite dirty. I wouldn't want to put my phone there to charge. When i flew from cbr-mel last week on the a220 that area was dirty with a lot of crumbs.
