Qantas operate some domestic 737 flights as all economy class. For example Qantas non-stop flights Melbourne-Karratha (QF993/QF994) that operate on Mondays only. It's a 738 but with no business class for sale.

Can a CL/WP, or anyone for that matter, select the J seats on these flights? Is it just Karratha that gets this a/c marketing configuration?

Hmm.. very interesting. I've never realised they do this. And while this doesn't give you an answer, EF does show the J seats as "Economy" and on next Monday's flight, there are people allocated in these seats already.

If you're early enough to seat selection/checkin, the seats are yours AFAIK. I think a member here recently got lucky in that regard.

One of my colleagues commutes from KTA-SYD on one of theses flights. He has been able to get Row 1 numerous times. He is SG!

Pretty sure munitalp has scored row 1 on one of these flights.

(weird that the mobile app doesn't like the length of the thread title)

These are treated much the same as rows 4 & 5 on other flights and start to open up at T-80.
Row 3 is usually available to WPs at the time of booking and P1 can select at any time.

Is it just Karratha flights? Any other destination?

QF also do that seating plan from MEL-PHE-MEL and maybe BNE-PHE-BNE aswell. Has it got anything to do with catering maybe?

That's the explanation I've heard.
