QAN to increase fares

The situation in Egypt is probably creating uncertainty about regional stability. Leading to speculation pushing up the oil price

Yeah, maybe. I'm pretty much of the opinion that the current goings on in Egypt are contained within its borders - I don't see really any potential for leakage or a widening of the issue into Jordan, Israel, Saudi or North Africa in general.

I'm sure everyone in the region is paying attention, but its internal politics for the most part. Mubarak is getting old and this always happens, dictators get into their late 60's or 70's and the young blood from beneath wants to overthrow them which then spills out into the street. Indonesia's transition from Suharto was really not much different and there are any number of citable similar events.

The oil continues to flow unabated from much much 'hotter' spots in the world. Nigeria and Iraq come to mind.

I reckon any excuse for oil / fuel price increases is a good excuse. Its not like oil pricing is unstable though, not really, so surcharges for travel are just wrong in my opinion. If you need to increase ticket pricing to remain viable then fine, do that, but don't pretend its got anything to do with unstable energy cost.
