just read this, does this mean the QA 767 to SYD/HNL is in the mix?.

Wonder if any PE?

Wide bodied aircraft
We know our bigger planes give you the feeling of greater comfort. We are refreshing 16 B767s with new interiors and IFE streamed direct to iPads* in every seat. The first of 16 aircraft to be refreshed will enter into service in October so you can relax and enjoy the flight.

No PE... I would expect that HNL will eventually get the A330s (maybe when JQ Intl/Asia gets its 787s)... (or go all orange)

For the record an A330 operated the service once this week

Its simply a spin way of saying:

"We at the QF PR department are sick of people complaining about the dated appearance of our B767 fleet and are having our a@$e handed to us by the VA A330 product, plus we were never serious about B787's for QF mainline so we have been forced into updating the B767 interiors even though we could have done it at a more opportune time before."

Wish they would just buy some new 767's, they are still on the production line.

I wonder if they are going to replace the CRT projector...
Having flown on an AA 767 this week, they had a 40-odd" lcd hanging from the centre partition, and 30" either side...
just that made the plane look better.

Is the A330-300 the domestic config? The one with the badly received xx-xx_-xx seating that is now xx-x x-xx?

I expect the projector will be replaced by Q-streaming.

So looks like Hawaiian Airlines are beating them with newer aircraft SYD/HNL and cheaper, might have to grab some VA points.

From what I have read Qantas have 23 767's. They plan to retire 7 to bring the fleet down to 16, all of which they plan to refurbish.
So SYD/MEL planes will get the refit, over time.

They did each of the refurbed 747 in 8 weeks, wonder how long to do a 767?.

There is no seat change so it should be quicker.

Now that would have made a great documentary.

Like this (love how the respray is made to look like part of the process but actually occurred in China and not AVV)

Its like stepping back in time flying on the 767's, I do it all the time and I never feel entirely safe in them. The croaks and creeks they make are unnatural.

No 763s has been refurbished just yet. The first refurbished aircraft is due to enter service in October.

At this stage, it is not clear which 763 will get the makeover first. IMHO, the 4 international configured 763 should get the refurb first as the old blue covers in Y seat makes them look really tired.
