Public Transport for Seniors

My seniors card is a pain at the moment and only scans about 1 in 3 times. I find it amazing the number of people that they swipe and get the error message and keep walking
If I knew I was entitled to be onboard for free then I'd keep walking. If I had funds attached to the card which were supposed to be used then likewise I'd keep walking. Because it's a system failure.

I suspect many of the ones that beep don't have the funds and just don't care

We are not as scrupulous as Singaporeans, in regards to the payment of fares, on their trains and buses.
Even if the buses were full, when I used it, long time ago now, you do not see any freeriders.
Neither do you see people jump the MRT turnstyles, I bet that at some of the Melbourne ones, with turnstyles, some people would jump it, and some stations dont even have turnstyles, or gates, so its a free for all.
I think too, that in Adelaide, everyone knows the group of 30/40 assortments of guys and gals who do the ticket inspection, on the buses.
Must be nice to do a fare dodge and not get caught, not so much for the pensioners/gold card holders, but the young ones esp.
