Property left on board. Any chance to find?

Family and I were on a Qantas flight from AKL-SYD in January. As a special surprise, I arranged for the flight in J. My 8yo was loving the lie flat bed experience in the A330 and took off his brand new watch he got at xmas and placed it in one of the compartments. As a parent, I just happened to get a few photos of him enjoying himself. Shortly after disembarking, he informed me he couldn't find his watch. We went through his belongings and confirmed it wasn't there. I looked at the photos I took of him and low and behold, there was the watch fully visible in the photo. While we were checking in for our onward domestic J flight, we informed the checkin staff, even showing the photo. She just gave me the phone number to call for lost baggage, which I called directly after checking in. Only response was, the watch hadn't been handed in yet, call back later. Several call backs over the ensuing weeks. Nothing.

Either a passenger exiting the plane nabbed it, but I think unlikely, as most people are focussed on exiting the plane, due to the build up of passengers behind them, rather than scanning emptied seats for items they can pilfer. Also leaning over an emptied seat would seem obvious and suspicious, making most people unlikely to take that action. It is slightly possible that the next passenger in that seat could have found it if the cleaners didn't notice it, but I think it is more probable that the cleaners scored a brand new watch.

I always double check I have everything when I travel and am pretty sure I haven't left anything behind when travelling solo. But when travelling with kids, this gets harder. We've been travelling for a number of years as a family now and this is the first incident. Will have to double my vigilance.

Just in the middle of this right now!@! left a Android tablet on a J class flight with Qatar. Fortunately it has been found but getting it back is the problem. They will only ship it back to one of their destination ports. I am not due to be near one until mid June. Looks like I have a bit of a wait. I will now pick it up in Doha... here's hoping....

Left my iPad in seat pocket after a lon-Syd flight.

Cleaners in Sydney didn’t pick it up. Neither did the cleaners at the planes next destination. (DXB), but it was found at LHR by their cleaners.

Qf didn’t offer to fly it back.

Had to pay for a courier -.-

Mrs Scarlett left her handbag in the SYD SilverKris lounge and discovered the problem as we were reaching our seats onboard the aircraft (heading outbound Aus for a weeks holiday). We’d boarded via bus, so she didn’t know whether the handbag was in the bus, at the gate or in the lounge.
Cabin manager was great in contacting the various places to check, but advised that the flight wouldn’t be delayed.
Very luckily, SQ lounge staff somehow got the bag to the gate and then it made it to the plane before doors closed. We were happy on that occasion that there was the 5-10 minute “sorting out the paperwork” delay after boarding had finished.

Silly me managed to leave my camera + lens worth about 2K on the plane flying back from HKG. To my surprised, I called baggage services and they found it. I guess the duck tape I stuck on it made it look worthless.
