Part A:
Last time I flew qf107 it was same plane.

?: is luggage booked through to jfk from syd and customs @ jfk?

?: once past immigration on arrival, t/ferring from tbit to terminal 4, where do you take the t/fer bus, if so how long does it take?

?: in others experience is it quicker to just walk terminals and bear the security again?

Part B:

My friend is travelling with me on non-linked bookings and in different class, me d, her y.
?: can she book in at business counter with me and go through express lane and boarding?
Many thanks

Irrespective of anything else, luggage "Redeposit" is effectively landside and you need to re-clear security.

There is no airside TBIT/T4 transfer bus at that time of the day in any case.

It's an ~100 metre walk to T4 from TBIT. The Bus Stop ("A" Bus) is ~60 meters to the left as you exit TBIT and stops ~40 metres short of T4 so you need to walk further to use it.

What I would do is to exit TBIT onto the lower street and walk up the stairs to TBIT departures. Walk around the road to T4 on the upper level and you come across the first class check-in entry. Just inside is the "premium" escalator to security.

Part B: Almost certainly OK.

Thank you once again Serfty for your support.

Previously when departing same terminal when qf107 arrived and departed at the same terminal, now that it is two separate terminals, does the luggage need to be picked up and take it to area in same terminal (previously the area was just around the corner where you collected it) for onward to JFK or is there another process?

Sorry I didn't quite understand what you were saying. This is my dense thinking day.
Thanks again

It's no different in that all luggage activity happens in TBIT for you.

i.e. Immigration, collect bags, pass customs, walk up ramp, redeposit luggage, exit TBIT.

Is this still the same deal? (I assume there hasn't been any change of arrival/departure terminals)

fly by wire, mid-nov. it was exactly as serfty said, all done in the one area re. luggage. plus if going onto jfk, you remained in tbit, didn't have to go to terminal 4. there are qf staff on arrival in luggage area who will answer questions and give directions. my memory is other staff pointed us to a lift that we took to area in tbit we needed to go through security and then onto boarding gate. after lift we went through check in area to security area near back of qf check in area. (if you've been through there before you will be able to picture it). cheers

Re: process qf107 tbit arrival to departure terminal 4 plus travelling with non qff p

Oh ok thanks for that. When I did it 18months ago you had to do the t4 to tbit change. Didn't realise that had changed.

Cheers

Re: process qf107 tbit arrival to departure terminal 4 plus travelling with non qff p

they must have changed the arrival terminal or dep. terminal at some point. when i mentioned to the qf staff assisting me upon arrival of the need to go to t4, she asked where i got the info. from and said it wasn't so. we were lucky going through security at tbit it was quite so not a hold up. the crew for jfk tho. were late as stuck in traffic caused by road accident, as happens.
