Hi folks,

I've been keeping half an eye on J award availability out of BNE around May/June last year, and noticed there doesn't seem to be much or any J availability from BNE to/from LAX - less so than from SYD, which seems rather like it should be the other way around.

Anyone know if there's something going on? A case of weird yield management maybe?

Cheers,

Danny

Edited to fix a spelling typo...

The reward seats I have booked to LA are via Melb, coming home direct to Sydney.

It's quite possible it has something to do with the VA's schedule changes in axing the MEL-LAX route from late October and BNE going to daily flights at the same time - see this thread http://www.australianfrequentflyer....l-news/va-suspends-mel-lax-support-61787.html

They probably now have to rebook everyone on the MEL flights on to SYD/BNE flights so they might be waiting to see what sort of loadings they have before releasing any more reward seats. I'm keeping an eye on LAX-SYD reward in J for a flight in March so we can upgrade, but there's been no availability to date.

Ahah - yeah, starts to make sense with the BNE/MEL announcement. Still a bit of a pain, I'm glad I'm not trying desperately to make a booking!

Looks like this availability has freed up again, guess they got most people sorted out after the MEL changes and released the seats.

Bit stressful for anyone planning a trip, but at least it looks like award availability is good again!

Sure does - several of us who have been waiting for reward seat/upgrade availability have had the Velocity phone lines running hot this morning LOL
