As noted in a few places, the restoration of points breaks has seen a slight change in the costs of buying points for the 5K level:

So, it is better now to "buy" PC pts in increments of 10K, rather then 5K... ;)

Hmmm.... so the difference is the "middle" tier (i.e. 1st points+pay option) has increased by $10. Is that right?

I used points+pay recently for 2 nights at a Candlewood Suites in NYC; I paid 5k+$60 per night.

Yes, some of us are expecting the increase to flow through to the 10000 point option, making it $80.

So if I have this right the cost of 10,000 points + pay has gone up to USD40 while the cost of 5,000 points + pay has remained at USD60?

You have it slightly the wrong way round I think.

Basically it is;

Reward - 5000 = $40
Reward - 10000 = $60

Where Reward is the number of points required for a night.

So it costs $40 for 5000 points and 10000 points is $60.

I think I had it the right way around but it is silightly confusing where I did not specifiy reward in the context of the use of the term "buying" points when making a reward booking.

If I use 15,000 PC points I receive 1 nights accommodation
If I use 10,000 PC points + USD40 I receive 1 nights accommodation
If I use 5,000 PC points + USD60 I receive 1 nights accommodation

Ahh yep, I understand what you meant now.

Hopefully the 5,000+usd60 option doesn't change. It provides fantastic value for purchasing points ;)
