I flew from Heathrow terminal 4 to europe last week in J class, was told by BA's queue police I had to wait in the regular queue , they did have a prioriy queue but it was used by very few, is it only available to BA executive club members or was I told the wrong thing?
Have checked in J with BA at other terminals and have been able to use priority check in. I am oneworld emerald so thought I would have been eligible.

I would have replied to the queue cop:

"You're obviously an idiot - and you clearly don't get paid enough to take what I'm about to dish out. Who is in charge of you?"

Damn straight you can use priority check-in under the circumstances outlined above.

If travelling on a short haul flight, then the check in desks for short haul normally need to be used ( if travelling without checked baggage they may check you in at a long haul counter ) since the baggage belts go to a separate point, so if attempting to use the Club World check in desks the queue monitor was correct

There should have been a Club Europe check in desk in that area which you should have been able to use

BA can and will check you into a short haul flight from the long haul flight desks.

It's just a matter of them "letting" you. The bags do end up at a different holding area, but are transferred correctly. Although it's something I wouldn't like if checking in at the last minute!!

The door monitors at LHR tend to leave you alone if you look like you belong there. If asked questions, you just show the WP card.

My experience of the BA check in service at T4 Heathrow was it was pretty hopeless...

Tried to check in at the First Class area for a First flight back LHR-SYD and the person had great problems opening the system to handle a QF flight and then couldn't be bothered to put any priority tags on the my luggage and had to be asked to put the appropriate first/priority stickers on.
