Priority check-in for travel companions

Quick question... I am Platinum with another 2 people on my booking with no status. My partner is Gold, with 3 additional travellers on his booking. We are travelling on QF to Fiji. While my partner and I can use priority check-in, I presume that our travelling companions on the same booking will also be able to join us in the priority check-in line?

In a practical sense, i’m pretty sure if you had no status and just waltzed up in the priority line you’d be fine. I don’t think it’s taken that seriously by checkin agents. In terms of the rules, not sure, but everyone on the same booking makes logical sense.

Yes, just checkin together.

No, they don’t always work that. Various ports have people checking lines and redirecting.

Qantas does? or other airlines?

OP is flying Qantas. Other than those First Class checkin areas at MEL and SYD, pretty sure it’s an honour system. 🤣

Had ground agents at ZQN ask whether I was Business in the check-in line as the Y line was super full, and I'm young. They wanted to check my reservation, but I just showed my QFF card. Had a very similar interaction in TPE boarding CX.

But for QF, haven't really had a shakedown before or after ZQN, not that it matters as everyone in your party can just tag along.

QFi have been known to check at SYD.

From my (albeit limited) experience, flying QF, if the passenger is on the same itinerary as you, then yes the QF agents won't mind having them check-in with you as well. I will, however, note that YMMV with other airlines. For instance, United had no trouble checking myself and my parents in for a flight to the UK from Canada as a United Premier Gold, but on the return my parents were LHR to YYZ on AC and I was flying LHR to SYD (via LAX) on UA. AC priority check-in outright refused to check them in (probably because we were travelling on separate itineraries) despite me flashing my UA Gold card meaning they had to slunk it in the normie line.

Same booking with status pax is no issue. If they were on separate bookings then technically no, they shouldn't.

So the "Platinums" could check in at F, and the "Golds" (Partner+3) at J. However depending how busy F is, they may be OK to do everyone at F (but since separate bookings, the right thing to do would be to send the "Golds" to J check in).

They do check the entry to the queues at times but not all the time.
I've taken a non-status travelling companion with me through priority check-in, security and boarding, even with separate bookings, and it's worked all fine. You just need to make an appearance together and the highest status leads the group.

Checking-in at a business counter? Oh the humanity! 😱
