Took me about 30 minutes to get through the priority queue on the morning of Christmas Eve in SYD last year (Christmas gifts couldn't be crammed into the carryon, unfortunately). But they did have four desks working the priority queue, and the general queues certainly appeared slower. I thought they did a reasonable job, no-one expects checking bags on Christmas Eve to be a quick process!
