Does Qantas even do priority bags anymore? I don't think I have seen my bag come out even in the first half on any domestic flight in the last year. Priority boarding is now working ok sometimes but collecting bags is the bit that actually wastes time.

It's still a published benefit - but so has priority boarding been since oneworld was introduced and Qantas has only recently gotten around to a piecemeal, haphazard approach to providing that benefit.

I generally am about the last to get my luggage...never mind I can get on and off a plane swiftly.....

I think the only time I have had a priority tag is when flying business. Do I need to ask at check-in for one or should my qtag work? It's a small thing I know but I was off the plane and waiting at the carousel for 25 mins today. And I was in exit row so took a while to even get off the plane.

My experience is that the Priority Baggage just means that it is less likely to be offloaded when there are issues with takeoff weight. ie. they will offload a non-priority bag over a priority bag.

Additionally, don't use your qtag. On the occasion that I actually check a bag you can almost guarantee that you will be toward the end if you are rocking a qtag. Nothing more frustrating than arriving somewhere after flying full fare business as a P1 then seeing your bag roll-out last. First off the plane and last off the carousel...

I use the sticker tags now. Not 100% full proof (QF enhanced), but it isn't consistently last. Or avoid checking baggage like the plague it is...

Just give up hope on priority boarding or baggage. The last 20 flights with Qantas, all fully paid business, platinum flyer, domestic and international, bags never came out in the first half of all bags. Not once. Culminated in Sydney international last month, when bags came out essentially last after 2 hours from disembarking. Billtrain has the right idea, avoid checking baggage like the plague.

If you set your expectations the following: priority baggage tags MAY mean something in a foreign airport, but will NEVER mean anything in an aussie airport, you will be far less disappointed. I maintain that aussie baggage handling is overseen by some Communist group that hates high-flyers.... ;)

YES!
I’m constantly amazed how my baggage comes off so quickly in places like CGK almost all of the time yet on ADL-MEL flight I’m lucky if my bag isn’t the last off the belt. BNE is about the only Australian airport that would be batting above 50% for me. I’ve given up on MEL and SYD in particular.

VA make it work in Australia. It's QF that don't.

even flying in J with my WP bag tags clearly visible and a priority tag, i am often left waiting for my bag/s long after non status pax have exited the building

And crew, don't forget they're long gone..

With both of us WP for many years (and almost always flying in business), our bags have never come out until almost the last few.

Lesson learned, and wherever possible, we travel HLO.

The only times I’ve seen priority arrival of bags, is on other airlines throughout Asia and Africa. Bags are collected and waiting for us in a secure area.

It's very courteous of Qantas, this Prior Tea baggage they offer, letting me have a nice afternoon drink and snack before receiving my bags.

I wish I could ‘agree’ more than once. I have a few P1 Coasters I could use for the tea cups.

It’s been a while since anyone posted here, but I’m just wondering if it’s me or is it getting worse? To top it off one bag arrived in CNS (no where near the first half of deliveries) and the other is enjoying a late night DeathStar flight up, which is exactly what happened 2 months ago. I know it’s a first world problem but honestly, how hard is this?

Have had positive experiences in BNE and SYD this month. Both bags out in first 15 or so, WP using bag tags.

I've only flown twice on Qantas in my entire life, both were this month, a SYD-MEL return trip. I had priority baggage, found it was printed "business" on the paper tag. Coming from virgin who still stick a orange priority tag on it I was concerned how it would work. Both flights my bag was within the first couple to come out.
