Previous Card holder - Anyway of still getting sign up bonuses?

I would say cancel your existing AMEX, or not and apply. I still have my AMEX corporate card. I have also cancelled my David Jones AMEX 2 days before I applied for this Velocity Amex card and the bonus 80k just posted.

I'm closely watching whether you will get the points or not Arrow29. I want to apply as well but hold the AMEX platinum reserve card. Also, someone who I worked with applied through a referrer too. She was told over the phone that she will get 80,000 EXTRA points i.e. current 50,000 promotion and 80,000 extra on top of that for being referred! If that is true, then that would be very very nice

Yep, I was in the same boat and definitely "only" got the 80k referral when applying. I wasn't prepared to risk not declaring my pre-existing card, so entered the card number and everything that it asks for. So the 80k points are definitely working currently for pre-existing card holder if you declare that you're an existing AMEX customer! As I mentioned, happy to hook anyone who's interested up with a referral

You are probably right that she will "only" receive the 80k points, just going by what everyone's experience has been. I let her know that this is probably the case. I'll update on here here if she receives the 130k in points. On a side note, thanks to whoever sent through the referral links. However, I better go with my co-worker who originally told me about this offer! She's eager to fly in style!

I csn confirm that i received 110k points and I am an existing amex platnium reserve card hder. I also only spent about $750 dollars even though the trigger was supposed to be $1000. Strange but I'm not complaining!
