Preferred way to book hotels

I do like to research hotels quite a lot but at the same time try to keep things simple.

I generally know where I will be staying in Thailand so it makes it easier to compare. I use HotelsCombined to check rates and then usually book via Agoda or HotelClub. Occasionally booking.com, Hotelopia, may have the room cheaper in which case I will book through them.

I also find this works quite well in Australia as well if your heart is not set on any particular property.

When it comes to chain hotels I book directly with them. I cannot be bothered about best rate guarantee as it is way too easy for them to get out of it.
