Travelling to Prague for first time in early May 2018, it looks like a big city so where is best area to stay . Not sure what to do or see yet but we just like to wander . Not really the museum type . Appreciate your thoughts, thanks

It is a few years since our last visit but I would be giving a very strong recommendation for Charles Bridge Residences. Be aware there is no lift (at least there wasn't when we were there)
Superb location for getting around but no problems with noise. Right at the bridge & as you say Prague is a great city for just wandering.
Suggest you book direct but here is a link via TripAdvisor Charles Bridge Residence: 2017 Prices, Reviews & Photos (Prague, Bohemia) - B&B - TripAdvisor

I stayed in the Rybna Residence which is at the other end of the old town. Definitely agree that the old town is the best area to stay in.
I stayed longer than expected and ended up moving to another apartment administered by the same people which was also great.
They operate a few buildings around the old town.
I found them on booking dot com but you can book direct - if you are interested I probably have contact details somewhere.

I'd recommend somewhere on the west bank of the Vltava River, near Charles bridge. Quieter than the old town at night and equidistant from there and the castle.

Thank you RB will check it out, however husband and I are getting a big on to do luggage and stairs. :)

thank you, I found the website through your link. Looks like it is very popular. Can you advise if the apartments also had washing machine/dryer? Also, is there a lift?

We stayed in a ground floor apartment a few years back that was fantastic. Other members of our family have had same good experience with this place. Very roomy, refurbed bathroom and great location. See the following link:

Perhaps you could clarify who you're asking?
