Just packing for a Christmas trip.

For my extended stays in foreign countries I have a powerboard which get's sacrificed and fitted with a local socket. Have a collection of a few plugs in a box at home.

Aldi sold a >$20 international powerboard with changeable plugs a while ago that also has four USB charging points. It is packed for all my trips, domestic and international.

Wow I would love one of those but can't find anything when I try to google it

Why "sacrifice"? Just plug it into an in-country adaptor and you're set to go!
Agree. I just plug my powerboard into a universal adaptor so no sacrificing needed. I would love to have what @Hvr has but can't justify buying one as my $3 Kmart cheapie does the job!

Thanks @RB - I tend to just get what I want at Aldi and walk out so I'll have to do some browsing next time I'm there

I did a quick google on reviews and it doesn’t seem to charge very fast at all.

I think we were talking more convenience and adaptability rather than speed?

Also for those looking in store at Aldi I think the box is black & green rather than the image I uploaded earlier

I like the idea of the Aldi board, if it had 4 AC outlets, i seem to use so many.

For why I dont use the universal, I have one of these power boards sitting in storage in Philippines, i have another board with me here in europe. Now this morning, Mrs Albatross wants to blowdry and use a hair straighter so she needs to be dispatched to the bedroom with the universal adaptor.

My international travels take me repeatedly to the same country so I leave my modified powerboard with my gear in each country.

The Aldi one does 3.1 Amps @ 5volt over four ports -you'd have trouble charging 2 iPads at once.

I have not regretted buying one.

Does everyone here pack the powerboard in their checked bags or carry on? I think it may have been Tony Hancock who reported a while back that he had a powerboard in his hand carry which was confiscated in Dubai.

I bought one of these years ago and have never looked back: SURGEPLUS™ 2-OUTLET USB INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL SURGE

Our family all have Tumi ones and this Christmas we did some as presents. Never had an issue but they are more expensive.

I think I am going against the flow, but I detest "universal" adaptors. In my experience they are usually not of great quality, and are usually too bulky to enable easy plug-in at whatever power source is available. I much prefer to carry simple adaptors for each country - there are actually not that many!
