I currently find myself in a difficult situation a few days before a trip made up of several separate itineraries strung together: SYD-SIN on Scoot, SIN-DEL-JDH on 9W, LHE-BKK-SYD on TG.

Visa application for Pakistan has been delayed to the point where I now must retrieve my passport from the consulate and accept I will not be able to enter Pakistan (intended port of entry was via land border at Wagah). The requirement for the visa application was proof of fully booked flights etc. As such, I now have a ticketed flight departing from Lahore I will not be able to take.

Tickets are J to BKK and F on TG475 to SYD. TG office in Sydney has not been able to help, only referring me to the TG Karachi office.

Ideally at this point, I would like to amend the ticket and just have DEL as the point of departure. Has anyone had any success in changing the departure city/country on TG? Alternatively, would I be able to cancel the LHE-BKK sector and reluctantly get myself to Bangkok to board the BKK-SYD flight?

Any advice would be appreciated.

So, just to confirm, you're hoping to re-ticket the TG LHE-BKK-SYD flight to DEL-BKK-SYD, and it is a J ticket.

It would depend on the fare rules, but I would suspect that it will require cancelling the ticket, getting a credit (less any cancellation fees) for it, and re-issuing a new ticket departing DEL, then using the credit plus paying for the difference in order to do that. What's the fare basis for that J ticket?

Another option might be for you to purchase a DEL-LHE ticket to connect to LHE-BKK. A quick search suggests that Australians can transit LHE airport without a visa, as long as the connection is less than 24 hours and you do not leave the airport.

Was the booking made via TG website & ticket issued directly by TG? If it was done thru a travel agent you would need to make any changes through them

Can you just call up TG res & have them reassess the fare to a DEL TG x/BKK TG SYD instead of ex LHE?

If the DEL fare is cheaper they should be able to refund the residual or if more expensive you'd just need to pay the adcol.

Unless it was some extra special ex Pakistan fare only I don't see why you'd have to refund the first ticket & buy a new one.

It was booked directly on the TG website. It's not an award ticket.

I have now had a response from the TG Karachi office via the SYD office (who have been very helpful actually). I am not able to edit the flight to depart from DEL. I have been offered a date change with no fee (irrelevant), full refund minus fee 2000 pkr (about $20) or travel BKK-SYD as ticketed but with no refund for forfeited LHE-BKK portion.

If I were to book the same flights ex Delhi today it would cost about $500 more than I paid originally. I'd be afraid of the refund taking time to get back into my account and don't want to go out of pocket several thousand $$ a few days before I leave. So it will be the third option. Flying TG first class BKK to SYD is the most exciting flight of the bunch, and I'm pretty happy that won't be lost by not boarding at LHE. The decision has been made to book Y tickets DEL-BKK on TG which are reasonably cheap ($300 each). Considering all of the above, I may relay this sob story at check in at DEL in the hope of a standby upgrade on the ticket...

Sounds like a reasonable outcome. Will TG cancel the LHE/BKK for you so you are not a noshow? My only concern if they didn't would be that your BKK/SYD flight could be cancelled if you no-show ex LHE.
