Possible to book online a QF ticketed flight (on EK metal) originating from Europe?

Hi all,

does anyone know if it is possible to book online on qantas.com.au for a return flight DME - ADL?

I can search and book if my origin is ADL, but can't search if my origin is DME...

From what I understand, flying on a QF ticketed flight on EK metal would net me a better points/status haul VS booking direct with Emirates, hence why I'm trying to book via qantas.

any help would be appreciated!

Firstly, if you want Qantas points and SCs but want to fly on EK, then yes, booking with Qantas on flights with a QF codeshare/flight number will get you more points and SCs. Booking on Emirates but crediting the flights to Qantas were earn you fewer (albeit some) points and no status credits.

Secondly, it is definitely possible to book a return trip with Qantas (regardless of whether it is operated by Emirates or Qantas) originating in Europe, but for some reason the Qantas website does not seem to allow bookings originating in Russia (unless booking a classic award).

If you are really keen on the QF points/SCs, my first point of call would be to phone Qantas and see if they are able to offer you a quote over the phone ex. DME.

If you originate the booking in Germany, France, Austria, Switzerland, the UK, Spain, Ireland or the Netherlands, then you should be able to book on qantas.com. Then you would have to position to that port to start and finish your trip. If you booked these positioning flight/s with a oneworld airline (e.g. BA, Finnair or airberlin) you would also get Qantas points/SCs for that flight/s.

You could perhaps also try a travel agent or online booking site (e.g. Expedia) but I just did a quick search on expedia and couldn't find any flights on QF for DME-ADL.

If none of those work for you, then you may need to just book directly with Emirates.
