I was setting up a DONE4 for 2 mates of mine with the AA ATW desk a few minutes ago. The itinerary had QF on the tpac and BA on the tatl, in other words no AA content on the overwater segments, not even the AA codeshare for the tpac as the QF code was needed to satisfy the min 4 QF flight requirement for status. The AAgent was not flustered by the lack of major AA content, however she said that there might be an upcoming enhancement to make it compulsory for one or more of the overwater segments to be booked on the issuing carrier.

Take it with a pinch of salt though as she doesn't really know whether it's really going to happen, just "there were discussions."
