Positive Virgin?

.... FAs good, lounge angels fantastic, lounge great, lounge food acceptable...just, priority boarding good, family pooling great, priority luggage good when working, priority security screening good when working, web site sucks, attention to detail sometimes sucks, opdowns sucks, consistancy in the product average, J offering frequently sucks (so I'm told), LCC fees/charges/food/luggage boardering on schzophrenic, ife sucks, dramatic fare increases sucks............

Those comments by swanning_it are a pretty fair summary of the new VA through a lot of the comments I have seen in the last few months. These opinions are of course all informed by comparison to their main domestic competitor QF. The only other thing I would add for mik01's benefit would be that QF has been around for a lot longer and can get a lot of things right or at least accepatable (like FA's, FF program, lounges lack of LCC fees and website design) but also have their own problems with things like inconsistent priority boarding and other minor bugs. The theme here is both QF and VA are guilty of inconsistency, although a lot of people are saying that for J class travel that QF is more consistent than VA J.

A lot of that has to do with different fleet choices and configurations. That's why this site is so good - as you get the accumulated experience of a lot of flyers and can see overall trends that you may not see unless you spent your whole life on aircraft!

Welcome to the forum mik01. As many of us know, AFF has been a wealth of information and answered many questions for a lot of us. It can be even better when one realises there's a search function that works. The post of mine you quoted, addressed many of the points DJ have either excelled at, passed maginally or absolutely failed at. A brief summary of many of the recent threads discussed, but I have no intention of starting to regail the hundreds of views or opinions expressed in those recent threads simply because you don't wish to read back a few pages. Sometimes you won't get the answers you personally want........seems this is one of those times, doesn't it? Sorry if my opinion doesn't suit you, but that is my opinion (for better or for worse). Markis 10 has already given a mods view and I agree with it. Now all I have to do is find your "fresh input". That's where I'm having trouble and for the record, I personally don't have any problems with DJ except their ever increasing fare costs. I like many of the changes, but they're not worth the added cost to me IMO. I pay my own fares and hence we may be viewing the new DJ experience from different angles (oh and I recognise some members don't agree fares are increasing by any substantial amount). You mention you were forced to move to DJ a few years ago and you didn't like the LCC "fun in the skies" experience...........that forced move was possibly price driven. Maybe a new force will see you on JQ or TT soon, then you may have an opinion on the fare increases??

Ok I'll bite.
i was Not asking what is good and bad about virgin. Yes there are heaps of threads to this effect.
I was curious about the psychology of those complaining and whether the collective thought that we are judging virgin too harshly or otherwise AT THIS TIME AND COMPARED to Qantas, which is supposed to be the flagship of business travel.

Your original post added nothing to that question, hence my reaction. It wasn't that your opinion didn't suit me - it s your arrogant comment that I added nothing new to the forum and therefore should go and read pages of old threads rather than dare to propose a new topic for consideration.

I felt my topic was new an fresh for discussion - rather sorry for you that you feel everyone should read pages of old threads to piece together conclusions.
I invited a conversation and others have happily obliged. I cant believe I have to defend myself - I wont apologize for creating this thread, and it's a shame I don't fit in with your little group.

Mik01 You'll always find people on forums who like to shoot down the new members. I agree in a lot of cases we don't have time to trail old threads, or we want a chance to say something without rehashing an old thread. It's a pity sometimes what it written on a forum can be taken so far out of context, as opposed to speaking to someone irl.
Having said that however...these boards are a wealth of information, and certainly plenty of comparison views on different aspects of the hard/soft product are current threads at the moment that you can join in with your opinion.

I'm sorry for my perceived arrogance mik01. (there's something else for you to overanalize).

Never fear, I'll take my little group of one and leave you to debate ad nauseum the psychology of the whingers. I think I'll debate with me, myself and I (my little group), the psychology of the rose coloured glasses set! ;)

Okay - I see what you are trying to ask now. I can't speak for others as I have not flown and complained about VA J-class myself. But there have been a lot of frequent flyers here who have complimented VA on their newish J class offering while also pointing out the deficiencies. Sure - these people fly a lot and some are harder to please than others but they also see a lot of J class flying so presumably would be best informed to make comments about J class.

Like me - a lot of them have a foot in each camp (QF and VA) as far as status and spend.

I would guess that a lot of them support competition and like the fact that VA are there to give some competition to QF to keep them honest. Although how effective that is remains to be seen.

miko i had the worst business flight ever experienced on virgin this week return from Bali to Brisbane see my post on other forum. They sucked from go to whoa. I travelled there in economy on same flight and was happier except they only have two toilets for ?200 people. I think people are more likely to complain than compliment cause i sure am.

Saul, you have started a thread on your own experience and have had replies, no need to crash every other post with the same rants.
