We are flying from Alice Springs to London via Port Stephens this month. Yes….☺️ Has anyone recently visited, know a good place for a birthday dinner? I wonder if Rick Stein’s place is worth a try. Happy to hear from anyone who knows the area, completely unknown to us. Thanks.

I lived here for a number of years. Rick Steins is good. Very much a seafood theme. Pricey. Checkout the Point restaurant at Soldiers Point marina Varied menu with stunning views over the western waters of the port. Book a window table or lunch on the balcony if the weather's fine. Both have websites with menus and prices.

They are the two I had narrowed it to. Maybe we should try both. We live a long way from the sea! Thanks very much. Happy to hear any tips for the area, our first time there.

Good. I forgot to mention my favourite ..the Deck cafe at Soldiers Point marina. It's on the ground floor of the marina under the Point restaurant. Been there many times for a meal and the best spanakopitta and moussaka this side of Athens. Or the Little Beach Boathouse. Right on and over the water but from experience hard to get a table.

Fantastic tips, thanks.

Could also recommend The Kitchen & Patio at Shoal Bay Country Club or Newcastle & Port Stephens Game Fish Club in Shoal Bay

I am hugely intrigued by the flight itinerary can you share ?
I live here and I rarely fly into or out of NTL.

Bannisters is fab BTW

🤣 Alice to Brisbane, with family there, then flight to NTL. We were just going to have a week there but once we were that far, decided to keep going…. So it’s back to Bris then down to Syd and off to Singapore for a 4 night stopover. Weird way to start a trip to London and Rome but these aren’t ordinary times.

Thoroughly enjoying researching apartments in Rome and Bologna, for 10 days on our way home. All booked and ready to leave home next weekend, for 7 weeks.

We lost madrooster so had to book with someone else but we’ve since found him again, for next time.

Thanks, birthday booked at Bannisters so I appreciate your positive comments.

Just flown in to start our week around Port Stephens and checking all the eating recommendations once again from this thread thank you all.
