Flew Syd - melb tonight in J. There were 2 of us and we were 4th & 5th passenger to be served. Choice was chicken noodle salad or prosciutto platter. We both wanted the chicken noodle, as neither of us eat red meat.
however, there were only 4 chicken noodle meals.... Therefore not really any other choice for one of us.

Is this usual in business?

If I thought the choice was that limited in numbers, I would have ordered a special meal, but being in row 2, I would have though we still would have had 2 meals to choose from......

disappointed, as we had been in the run all day and were both quite hungry !!

TQ

Sounds like you had a dietary requirement you didn't declare.
Hi hdfb,

its only no cured meat, so I never declare as usually have a choice.
agreed...if I miss out, then it's my fault.

just that this was 30 seats of J, and only 4 choices of one meal available seems ridiculous.

TQ

Was J full, seems odd to only load 4 of that choice unless its traditionally a poor choice.

I had a 'refreshment' yesterday in J and found it to be a meal! Was lovely and filling.

While I agree that - not getting your choice when flying Business, is an unacceptable situation, and IMO QF should load multiple redundant meals: Was is it not possible to pick around the offending item on the plate?

QF domestic J - prosciutto platter tray service

May I suggest moving your custom to Virgin domestic J, where the second option is always vegetarian?

You could have requested a whY meal too. They aren't too shabby. ;)
IME when the prosciutto is offered in J on QF, it is on an "snack" flight, in which case the whY "meal" would have indeed been very shabby!

Yep.

When it's a snack flight, the prosciutto or smoked salmon often makes an appearance (IME).

Both of those choices sounds fantastic. Was recently served a ham salad in J for a snack flight. 2 slices of ham with a dab of mayo on top, half a grilled tomato and a really bad pickled salad. Maybe that meal is exclusive to CBR-SYD

Too bad that not all dietary requirements get honored, very much like my allergy towards fish and seafood- and no, I don't ant to order a coughpy vegetarian meal if I pay for a seat in J.

To the original post- yes, this is unfortunately only too common on QF Domestic J. I end up either out of luck/getting a Y meal or with a very unsatisfying choice (a boring tiny bowl of cold salad with some sliced meat on top of it) in about 50% of my flights in J because the other choice is either fish or already gone

I was served a very tasty salmon squid ink noodle salad on a flight from TSV in J back in November 2012. The salad sounded much more appealing then the cheese plate.
