Polar night and polar bear island - a Norwegian winter adventure

Starlink was on the older 788 from NBO and I could connect just after I was seated. Better than any hotel wifi And totally different to the pathetic internet on cruise ships which also have Starlink.

I got it on a B777-200 the other day and was surprised.
Yep they have fitted out their whole fleet of 777’s and A350’s now.
Have had a few 787’s fitted but remainder to be done by end of the year.
I saw an article recently that said they were fitting one aircraft every 10hrs on average.
Over 60% of their fleet now fitted with Starlink

Just snagged a $600 return J fare MEL-SYD for 80 SCs to get me over to Gold and it coincides with my Tiges getting our butts kicked by the Swans.
Have already been credited with the DOH-MEL points and SCs, but not the Finnair ones yet.
Pretty sad that DOH-MEL only earns the same SC’s as a return MEL-SYD 😢

Just as an aside, the airport train, which takes 20 minutes, from Oslo Central to the airport was $41 one way.
I shudder to think what a cab or Uber would cost, but gee that’s not cheap.

Uber was going to cost us $105 at the time.
We stayed next to Oslo Sentral so train worked out better

The 'ordinary' regional train, which we used, takes about 4 minutes longer runs every 20 minutes to Sentral and is about 40 to 50% cheaper. It leaves from the same station but on a different platform.

Thank you for your report! We did a similar itinerary this week, but on TK to DOH, connecting to QR/VA.

Almost the same arrival time as you into DOH and also looked at a tour, for arou d the same price as yours.

Sort of glad we didn’t? Although I think we were fog free.

The other alternative was to get a rideshare or taxi into the souk and ‘DIY’. Looks like it was pretty empty? There are, apparently, a couple of 24-hour kebab shops where we could have eaten.
