I remember reading a little while ago about some people recieving calls from QF a couple of days prior to their trip to offer the chance to upgrade using points from deep discount Y fares (N,O,Q class for example) to a higher class. I'm curious to see if that's still occuring, or have loads picked up enough?

It was pretty rare even last year, I did 34 sectors with QF in N,O,Q,E class last year and I got op-uped twice (both my SYD-SFO legs), but only one phone call offering an upgrade for purchase.

I personally wouldn't be hanging out by the phone in case you get that call...

Cheers harvyk:)

I've got MEL-LAX-SYD both on the A380 in late April, so my chances are nearly non-existent for the call (assuming the popularity of the A380 due to it's novelty factor hasn't worn off ;)!)

Seatcounters still showing 9's in (almost) all fare buckets, all Econ definately on both sectors but it's still a while off - maybe PE was 7 in one bucket on QF93.

It's something that if given the call I'd snap up in a heartbeat, but I don't think I'll sit by the phone in the days leading up to the trip. I'm contemplating ponying up the cash for exit rows, I'm 6'3" so whilst I can survive normal whY, I think $160 isn't too unreasonable for the extra legroom.

I'm trying First on VX LAX-SEA-SFO whilst I'm away and I've got extra legroom on B6 JFK-SXM. Sadly the rest (definately the majority :)) of my flights around North America and Canada are in whY:(

Trip report please? I'd be most interested to hear what VX's service up front is like.

Definately! I'll try to snap off a few photos of the cabin/food as well.

Looking forward to taking photos of heavies coming into SXM over the beach!:):):)

G'day notzac

I flew VX First across every one of their routes a year ago. I can honestly say their first cabin is the best domestic first (business) cabin I've even been in, and the service is exceptional. Would love to fly with them again.

If you go via SFO, make sure you time your flight to depart around hte time the Virgin Atlantic flight goes so you can use their club lounge - funky place.
