Does anyone know how many Krisflier points I would need to upgrade from Y to J from BNE-SIN?

If you haven't already booked and have the Kris points you can see if there is a SAVER J available on line and qualify for the discounted points deal.
Points plus pay to get a J seat can be a very expensive way.
I will be keen to see your post on what works and why.
The call centre is great if you get stuck but it costs extra points because you miss the on line points discount.

I'm considering this question myself. I have a supplier whom is going to pay for a Y ticket for me and I'm looking at the best way to make sure I will be on a flight that has Saver availability.

From the SQ website:
UPGRADE AWARDS
Economy Class tickets purchased on Singapore Airlines must be booked in S, Y, B or E booking classes to be eligible for the upgrade redemption award.
Subtitle - not all Y fares are upgradeable.

The miles required for one way BNE-SIN are as follows:

Y to J using a an available Saver award seat : 35,000
Y to J using a an available Standard award : 70,000
Y to J using a Full award :165,000

I assume there is 15% off these for online booking.

Another consideration is the cost of taxes in the equation.

Saver award as a redemption is 45,000 miles + taxes
J Upgrade is 35,000 miles + original purchase price.

Alby If you only get a credit of 10k points for having a paid upgradeable Y ticket then your cash is being trashed by not going directly to points if you have them.
That is the difference in 45k less 35k in your example.
Get your supplier to send you the ticket money they would pay and you can book it your way!

I have suggested that - they are checking with their head office....grrr.
