I was just about to click Book on a "Premium Economy Sale" fare from FRA to SYD when I noticed the conditions saying that this fare type was not eligible for upgrade with points. I had assumed that all PE fares were, so is this a mistake or something new?

Seems unusual as I upgraded a sale PE ticket from SYD to NRT last week no issues. Always helps to call contact FF centre. I had the same message on a discount I (business) ticket from SIN to LHR and did not want to book however was assured it was allowable to upgrade. Turns out that I could upgrade and just had to call the FF centre to put request in.

I booked a ticket about 2 months ago SYD-BKK-LHR-SIN-MEL-ADL in Y on a sale fare. Went to upgrade a sector with points and it said the fare type was ineligible for points upgrades. However, a couple of weeks after I got an e-mail offering a chance to apply for a points upgrade which I have done for one sector. It was available for about 2 days and then became unavailable again.

Maybe that booking class is not eligible for upgrade requests. Have you tried some other bookings with similar booking class?

I was just speaking to QF CS on the phone and asked if T class fares were eligible for upgrade and the CSR confirmed a points upgrade was allowed. The general rule is that all W, J and F seats, except if they are award seats, are points upgradable.

I booked a PE sale fare (T) on exactly the same route (FRA-SYD) as the OP, and although the terms and conditions specified that the fare was not upgradeable I was able to upgrade all sectors post-booking.

All my current T class bookings have upgrade requests already loaded

Status: Confirmed
Upgrade status: Requested
Travel Class: Premium Economy (T)

Note:An upgrade to Business is requested. Status of upgrade will be shown 5 hours before departure.

Yes, all paid premium economy fare classes are upgradeable.

Hi Guys,

Im Booked in Business Class PER-SIN-LHR-SIN-PER in I class.

I'm flying a Qantas codeshare on BA SIN-LHR, If I was to ring QF is I class upgradable on their Codeshare and their own flights. When I go into the system it says Upgrades not available but I thought that might have been due to the booking bieng in I class?

Cheers

As far as I know you can only upgrade of QF flight numbers and QF operated planes.

Correct. You can only request Flight Upgrade Awards when Qantas is the operating carrier *and* marketing carrier, not just the marketing carrier (in other words you need to be on a QF flight number on a flight operated by Qantas). The only exception is if your upgrade is cleared on a QF flight that then subsequently suffers a significant delay or cancellation. QF will then try and put you in the upgraded class on another carrier (ie move to BA SIN-LHR from a cancelled QF flight). :)

Ah cool no problems :) Thanks guys....then again if I was to get an upgrade, don't think I'd care who's First class I was in lol! Would be a fantastic way to end the holiday being in First, Both of us travelling will be Gold by then so hopefully that would at least give us a look in at an upgrade.

Anyone know if I can ring the call center and request an upgrade then? or is I class not upgradable?

Cheers,
